My great great grandmother Eliza Mariah BOWMAN widow of Absalom BOWMAN is listed in the 1870 Barry County Census near Preston LEE and Fanny LEE the widow of Isaac LEE. Eliza's husband was killed during the Civil War probably by a Steve WEATHERS about 1863. Eliza had a daughter Caroline Selena who was born probably about 1864 who died in 1868. Do you have any idea where Absalom and Caroline might have been buried since they lived near the Lees? In the 1860 Census Absalom's family was in the Sugar Creek Census and in 1870 Eliza Mariah's family was in the Flat Creek Census. Also in the Eliza Mariah BOWMAN household was her mother Nancy BUCKNER HUNT who died about 1875. Eliza's daughter Matilda married a James Young LEE in 1871. Was James Young LEE related to Isaac Lee? Eliza Maria Bowman's sister was Carolina Selena HUNT DAUGHERTY, the wife of Evan DAUGHERTY. Nancy BUCKNER HUNT was living with them in 1860. Eliza had a brother James B. HUNT who was married to Nancy ABNER who married James Lafayette SCROGGINS after James died. James had a daughter Malinda who married a William MURRAY.
