I am interested in info on the LANSDOWN family in Barry Co and northwestern area of Arkansas. A couple of the major names are Joesph Henry LANSDOWN(E) , Henry Clay LANSDOWN. Henry Clay LANSDOWN, was born in Kentucky (because he always told the family that) and I believed that to probably be Harlan County. We never knew who his father was. Nothing was handed down from him. He lived most of his life in Jenny Lind, Arkansas which is a few miles south of Ft. Smith in the north west of the state. His son, my grandfather Joseph Henry LANSDOWNE (he had the "e" on the end whereas his dad did not.) was born in Rich Hill, Mo which is in the southwest of Missouri. This is not too far from Arkansas. I knew that James Noe LANSDOWN lived and died in Barry County, MO which is also in very south west MO. Paul sent me a letter written by a Grace CANTRELL around 1948. It was a letter responding to some other LANSDOWNE who must have contacted her. Anyway, Grace, whose father was very much younger than her uncles, wrote about those uncles in Barry County, MO. She mentioned her Uncle James who had only one son, Henry, and she had last seen or heard of him living in Arkansas. Henry died in 1927 so she could have remembered this from her childhood in Missouri.
