BRATTIN, BRATTINS, STEPHENSON, STURDY, WOODWARD, WOODWARDS posted by Carolyn Sturdy Cline on Sunday, June 22, 2003

I am looking for information about William STURDY (born between 1825-1826 in Tennessee) and married to Elizabeth (Sarah Elizabeth) WOODWARD (born between 1827-8 in Tennessee) on 7/30/1846 in Barry Co., MO. They had three children:Elizabeth Jane (born 1847 in MO), Hester (born 1849 in MO) and John Winford (born between 1852-3 in MO). According to family stories, one of John's sisters married a Brattin and the other a Woodward. In the 1850 census the young family is living in a settlement with contemporary Henry STURDY and David STURDY families and near an older William STURDY family. By 1860 William STURDY is gone. There is a Sarah WOODWARD living in a settlement of BRATTINS and WOODWARDS in Liberty township with Elizaabeth Jane, Hester and John Winford WOODWARD. By 1870 it appears Elizabeth Jane has married John C BRATTIN, has a daughter Hester (age 2), lives next door to her mother Sarah E. STURDY and five doors away from her brother John STURDY who appears to work for a blacksmith named J.W. STEPHENSON. I am trying to determine the relationship among the STURDY families living in Barry Co. MO in 1850. Family lore has David STURDY, a Methodist minister in Arkansas, dropping by John Winford STURDY's home in Lavaca, Sebastian Co.,Arkansas, in the 1880s and leaving the message that his "cousin" stopped by.

I am seeking info re the date & place death & burial of Nancy Jane (STEWART) SIZEMORE & William SIZEMORE. In 1870 both William & Nancy are next door to son Rownsel SIZEMORE, his wife, Catherine & family, in the Barrry Co, White River Twp, MO. In 1880 only William is recorded; William is with Rownsel SIZEMORE and his new wife, Lucy Jane (sister of Catherine, presumed deceased), in the same Barry Co, White River Twp, MO. There is no further census or other record of William SIZEMORE after the 1880 census. Can anyone help me discover the following: 1. Date & place of death & burial (cemetery) of Nancy Jane (STEWART) SIZEMORE; 2. Date & place of death & burial (cemetery) of William SIZEMORE; 3.
