My name is Vern Wilson and I am interested in any information on the George WILSON family of Barry Co. I understand that his father was Samuel WILSON of Carter Co TN. but I can find nothing of his (Samuel WILSON) parents. Who were they, where were they from etc? I have also noticed in my research that my Great great grandfather, David Daniel WILSON (son of George WILSON) had a brother by the name of Hugh Wilson. In all of my research I see what seems to be split in this family. I've actually had people tell me that they were two unrelated lines of Wilsons. From all I have been able to find they are related. Why the split? Was it the civil war? Does anyone have any idea? Any help would be appreciated. Sincerely, Vern Wilson, son of Billy Joe Wilson, son of Verney "Vernie" Roscoe Wilson, son of Bolin Green Wilson, son of George Wilson, son of Samuel Wilson.

BAZE, BLACK, ROSS, SCHULTS, WALKER, WILLOUGHBY, WILLOUHGBY posted by Debra McBride/Cheater on Monday, February 24, 2003

HI List, I am still searching for any information about my 3rd Gr.Grandfather who was James A. ROSS, b. approximately 1820/24 somewhere in Tn. He married Charity Jane aka Charlotte Jane BAZE in 1841 at McNairy Co.Tn. with two witnesses that accompanied them. They were William Overstreet, and Melvin Gallaway. THey had 3 children born to them at Barry Co. Mo. They were: John Alexander ROSS, b. 1843.....d. July 17, 1900 in Indian Terr. Sequoyah Co.Ok. Hiram McDonald ROSS, b. 1845.....d. Sept. 21 1862 at Cassville,Mo. in a skirmish there at Cassville on that day, while in action as he was in the First Ark. Calvary Union Army Co.E. (John A. his brother was also there at the time and in the same Co. and Regiment. Sarah Jane ROSS, b.1847/48.......d. No idea. All I can find out about her is she married a man by the surname WILLOUHGBY. Have no idea where or when. She possibly could have marr. before ??? WILLOUGHBY as the if she had've, then he could have gotten killed also there at Cassville. According to Charity's statements from the War Dept. James or Jas.A. ROSS died between Cassville, and Springfield Mo. in 1849 or 1850. She stated to the War Dept. that she couldnt remember the exact year. So why did he die or where was he buried???? She couldnt answer the questions good enough to suit the War Dept. So she never got her pension she was asking for off of the death of her son,,,Hiram. Charity remarried Abel BLACK in May 1852 at Cassville, and they had 4 children. All born in Barry Co.Mo. Who were: Elizabeth b. 1853 Samuel b. aprox. 1855 Mary b. 1857/58 Maude Columbus BLACK b. 1860/61. apparently died as an infant. I assume buried there at Cassville someplace. Abel BLACK was murdered in 1863 or 64 and relatives was charged with the crime. I am also wondering about a Abner ROSS that was there during that time in Barry Co. Or any other Ross's in Barry Co. during that time or before or after. These Ross's were moved out of Barry Co. I believe by 1865, or just before the war was over. I am also wondering about the witnesses to James and Charity's marriage. Makes me wonder if they werent related in some way or the other. Please if anyone can help me out here with anyone of these names mentioned here, I would very much so appreciate anything at all. All I can find out is from the 1850 census there for Flatcreek Twp. Barry Co. for any of them. But I still cant find James or where he is buried or even if he died at all. Anything will be very helpful at this point. I havent posted in a while. Thanks.......Debra Cheater/Darnell now
