COLEMAN, DEWITT, NEWLUN posted by Neil D. Newlun on Friday, October 8, 1999
In the fall of 1887 Albert and Mahala(COLEMAN)NEWLUN traveled from Vernon County, Wis. to southern Mo., with five children. Enroute (abt. Nov. 1887)Laura Melvina died in Livingston Co., near Farmersville. Wash Stellia Newlun was born near Washburn, Barry Co., 4/1/1888. The next record I have is a son born back in Vernon Co. in 1892. I assume that that there was kinfolk, either Newlun or Coleman in the area, perhaps DEWITT. Both Albert and Mahala were origninally from Gallia Co., Ohio. Does this data strike a chord with someone's line?

HUFF, PRICE posted by Becky (Chandler) Aldridge on Tuesday, November 23, 1999
I'm looking for information on a court case tried before or around 1840 in Cassville. Alphaeus Huff, a resident of the Fair Grove, Missouri, area was tried in Cassville for the murder of my Great-great-great-grandfather _________ Price. This murder occurred, I understand, in the vicinity of Fair Grove, in Greene County, but the trial was moved to Cassville. My purpose in seeking information on the court case is to know more about my Great-great-great-grandfather Price-his first name and so forth. The 1840 census for Greene County includes one Delphia Price, whom we assume to be my g-g-g-grandfather's widow. I'm not sure where to go in finding more info about his court case. This oral family history came from my uncle, now deceased. I do not have access to his files. I am, in effect, starting over in learning what my uncle had discovered about my g-g-g-grandfather's murder. -Help? -Becky (Chandler) Aldridge

BANKS, CORNELISON-SKELTON, CURTIS, SKELTON posted by Becky Eubanks on Saturday, February 5, 2000
I am looking for any information on the CURTIS families of Barry County. My ggg-grandfather was Hiram CURTIS, who migrated to Barry County, and reportedly died there. His son, my gg-grandfather was William Jesse CURTIS. William Jesse and his five daughters (by his first marriage) lived in Barry County. He appears on the censuses in Barry County in 1900 and 1910 with his second wife, Martha V. CORNELISON-SKELTON (widow of Abraham SKELTON). It is rumored that he is buried in Seligman, but I can not seem to verify this information. At least one of his daughter married in Barry County abt. 1898, Rosa CURTIS married James BANKS. Another of his daughters, Eva CURTIS appears on the 1900 census in the household of her grandfather, Hiram, who supposedly died shortly after this census was taken. As you can see, I have a lot of "reportedlys" and "supposedlys" in my files. If you have any information on my family, please let me know. Thanks in advance for any help you might offer.

CARNEY, MOORE posted by Betty Slovinski on Saturday, February 19, 2000
George Moore murdered Jackson Carney and his wife in 1870 in White River Township in 1870. It appears that the Moore's and Carney's were related or the Moore boys were split up and were placed with different families including the Carney's. George, age 6 was living with John and Sarah Carney in 1850 census. Jackson Carney, age six, was also living with Jackson.
