BALLARD, JACKSON, JOHNSON, KEENE, KELLY, MODE, MOREHEAD, REVELS, SCHULTZ, STEWART posted by Eddene Hightower Thompson on Thursday, March 5, 1998

I have been helping my brother-in-law to work on his family tree.. Ancestor was Jair Wayne JOHNSON, b. ca 1846, PA, served in the Civil War out of Marshall Co, WVa, lived in Barry Co, MO and died in Baxter Springs , Cherokee County, Ks in 1900. He is buried there in the military part of the Melrose(?) cemetary. The list of children for Jair that we have is: James Newton (Newt), b abt 1882 in Barry co, Mo, md Maude May MODE or REVELS, lived in northeast Ok, died in Claremore, Rogers co, OK, buried Melrose Cemetary out of Chetopa, KS (no tombstone found). Children of Jair are said to be: Daughter, md Bill STEWART; Joe, lived Bartlesville, OK; Frank, md Emma MOREHEAD, lived in Craig co, Ok; Susie, md KELLY; Daisy, md JACKSON, lived at Chetopa, KS: Blance, md BALLARD; Delly and Zelly (twins, Zelly married and moved to ND or Iowa); Bertha md KEENE; and Tom, md Daisy SCHULTZ, lived Ok. Newt and Maude JOHNSON had a number of children that we think were all born in Barry county: Cornelia Faye (Cordy), b 1905; Johnny Logan (Red), b 1906); Eddie Merle Bryce (Curly), 1911; Effie May, b. 1913; Lula Pearl (Pearl), b 1915, at Crane, Barry county, Mo (my brother-in-law's mother); and Orin Kermit (Beans), born in 1919. According to the birth order and possibility of all of the early children being born in Stone county, this would make them be there from about 1882 until about 1920. Cordy lived in Chetopa, Ks; Red in Tulsa, Ok; Curly in Oregon; Effie and Pearl both lived in Vinita, Craig co, Ok; and Beans lived in Morris, Ok. Have some info on descendants, but would like to contact anyone who could help us with more info. Will exchange info. If you or others know of this family, I would appreciate hearing from you. We have descendants worked up some and would exchange. Thanks in advance.
