| Research Note | This is a photo of my great-grandfather Henry R. Wilson Nickle and my great-grandmother, Esther Brown. They were married in the Rockland Presbyterian Church, Venango County, PA.
They were the parents of Daniel Merritt Nickle. Esther Brown Nickle was a daughter of Joseph Brown and Rachel Ann Carrier. Esther was a great-great-great-granddaughter of Martha (Ingalls) Carrier who was taken to Gallows Hill in Salem, MA on August 19, 1692 and was hanged there as a witch. She protested her innocence to the last. This photo was made before 1881 in Barry County, MO. |
