| Research Note | Eli DePew was born 1848 Dade Co., Missouri - died 1930 Granby, Newton Co., Missouri.
Eli was married to Sarah E. (McGuire) in Dade County and moved to Barry Co., near Purdy, where they homesteaded. According to Sarah's death certificate, she was buried in Arnhart Cemetery. They were the parents of Sarah Eva DePew who married O. L. "Lenard" Taylor. Eli was visiting his son, William DePew in Granby in the winter of 1930 when he contracted pneumonia and died. There was a severe winter storm, so he could not be returned to Barry County for burial. He was buried in the Granby Cemetery, where he lies next to his son William now. This picture was taken at his home near Purdy. |
