| Research Note | They younger guy with beard is William Pinkham Sikes. He married Matilda Hunt in Barry Co. in 1855. They lived in Barry Co., MO, between 1855 and 1873 when they moved to Colorado, except for the Civil War years when they lived in Searcy Co., Arkansas. The one I labeled unknown old guy is thought to be William Pinkham Sikes also. He died in May 9, 1893 in Fremont Co., Colorado He was born in October 18, 1834. I pegged the picture with the beard as him being about 40 years old making that about an 1870s picture. A close look at the coat in the "unknown old guy picture" almost looks like a uniform jacket. Yet the features are the same. This might be William's father, especially if that is a civil war jacket. And, taken much earlier than 1890s. |
