Research Note Pictured is George T. Hurt with his wife Cora Caldona (Lewis) Hurt. George was a son of Thurston Darlie Hurt and Louisa G. (McGuire) Hurt, second wife.
George Thurston Hurt was born on August 5, 1881, the first of Thurston Darlie Hurt's and his wife Louisa's children born in Missouri. He was born on their homestead near Oakhill, Arkansas. He was an excellent carpenter. He married Cora Caldona Lewis circa 1905. His wife Cora was born May 6, 1884, at Eagle Rock, Missouri. It was believed that they met through the Easley family.

George died on November 3, 1915, of peritonitis and is buried in the Roach Cemetery near Golden, Missouri. Cora his wife died July 8, 1966, of old age and is buried at the Seligman Cemetery at Seligman, Missouri. He and his wife, Cora, had three children as follows:

1. Truda Eloise Hurt, born January 24, 1906, at Golden, Missouri; m. January 1929 to Marlin Thomas who was born in Cassville, Barry Co., MO, and worked as an auto machinist. Truda and Marlin divorced after eight years of marriage. Truda died of Alzheimer's on April 25, 1985, and is buried at Seligman, Barry Co., MO.

2. Mary Louise Hurt was born February 26, 1909, at Lowell, Benton Co., AR; m. November 10, 1928, to Gerald Marion Turner who was born May 28, 1906, at Cassville, Barry Co., MO, and he died September 22, 1952.

3. Vergia May Hurt born May 16, 1911, at Eagle Rock, Missouri; m. No. 1 Herbert Moore who was born in Kankakee, Illinois, and worked as an auto machinist and died in 1957 and was buried at Fayetteville, Arkansas; No.2 Louis Schriner; he was born in Kankakee, Illinois, and worked in the steel mill. He died of multiple sclerosis and was buried at Kankakee, Illinois. There were no children from either of these marriages.
