| Research Note | The John Adam Bayless family farmed two miles north of Cassville. Front row, left to right: John Sherman Bayless, John Adam Bayless, Rebecca Elizabeth Chaney Bayless, William R. Bayless. Back row: Alice Bayless Brown (Mrs. William Brown), Molly Bayless Messer (Mrs. Melville Messer), Orpha Bayless, Martha Bayless Reed (Mrs. Sam Reed), and George Grant "Bud" Bayless. This picture was probably taken on 1885-1886. John Adam was a distant cousin of the Bayless family who lived in Cassville. John Adam served with the Union Army as a member of the Arkansas 2nd Cavalry, Company C. He and Rebecca were married in 1861 in Berryville, Arkansas. All are buried in Oak Hill Cemetery, Cassville. |
