Research Note | This picture is of the participants at a County-Wide
Girls Auxiliary (GA) and Royal Ambassador (RA) camp at Roaring River
State Park in the summer of either 1947 or 1948. The GAs and RAs were
long standing programs at Southern Baptist Churches for the children and
teenagers to learn to participate in mission activities of the local
church and the Southern Baptist Convention.
This camp was county-wide and was planned and operated by the Barry County Baptist Association. Campers and leaders were from a number of churches in Barry County. Ab Edie was pastor of the Washburn Baptist Church at that time. The three boys who are standing are: (from left to right) Jack Watson, Fred Clark, and Ted Clark. The boy kneeling on the extreme right is Frank Clark. All 4 of these boys were from the Washburn Baptist Church. I do not recognize any of the other people in the picture. Hopefully, there are people out there who can identify others. |
