daughter). The back of the photo had no names but the date was Barry County Baptist
Association meeting at Purdy, 1901."
In the book, One Hundred years of Barry County Baptist Association 1883-1983, by Pauline Cox, the following information was transcribed: "The Association met at the Purdy Church on September 3, 4, 5, 1901. The moderator was Brother Swiger, Clerk Morris Bayless, and Brother Gladden as Treasurer. The Rules of Order were reviewed. After singing "All Hail the Power of Jesus Name," Brother J.C. Sills led in prayer and Brother Ed Chappell preached the Introduction Sermon. Brother F. M. Smallwood, Chairman of the District Missions, reported "We recommend that the association employ two missionaries for half time, that they have a closer cooperation with the State Board of Missions, and assist weak churches of the association. J.C. Sills, I. N. Turnage, and N.W. Whittington, the committee on State Mission reported, 'The work for the present year has been encouraging." Annual Meetings given below with the year and the meeting place.
