Washburn News: Monta Kemp and Miss Kaye Black were quietly married Saturday, July 31st, at the home of Rev. Hutchinson. They are at the home of the groom's parents, E. R. Kemp. We wish them a long, happy married life.

Washburn News: Born to Mr. and Mrs. Houston, Tuesday, July 27th, a son.

Rock Creek News: The ice cream supper was well attended at Finis Easley's Saturday night.

Rock Creek News: Mrs. Ida Stone and little daughter of Neodesha, Kan., visited her sister, Mrs. Jas. Holman, part of last week.

Shady Grove News: Two of Golden Hankins' children have the whooping cough.

Shady Grove News: Alfred Hemphill and family visited his father, James Hemphill, and family Saturday night and Sunday.

New Site News: Miss Evia Fleetwood of Jolly is spending this week with her grandpa, T. Fleetwood who is very low with cancer of the stomach.

Gunter News: Arch Boyd and wife visited his niece, Mrs. Marbut of near Exeter from Saturday till Sunday.

Personal and Local News: A. L. Galloway went to Kansas City Monday night for a new Maxwell car for the Galloway & Salyer agency.

Personal and Local News: Otto Bower and Miss Alma Turner who were to begin the Golden School last Monday were notified that the school board had decided to have the school not to open until after he Reunion.

Personal and Local News: Mrs. Boss Edmondson and little twin boys of Stroud, Okla., arrived Saturday for a few week's visit with her parents. Mr. and Mrs. D. L. Cox, and other relatives east of Cassville.

Personal and Local News: J. S. McQueen and family returned Friday from a several day's fishing trip on Shoal Creek at Pioneer. They were accompanied by Wilson Lane and Sam McQueen.

Personal and Local News: Chas. Mutnux and two daughters of near Purdy were in Cassville Saturday attending the teachers association.

Personal and Local News: Hiram Hilton and Alfred Mullens of the northeast part of the county were here Monday and stated that that section of the county was in need of rain.

Personal and Local News: Mr. and Mrs. Claud Hedge and little daughter, Muzette, of Webb City, spent Thursday and Friday with Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Hedge of this city. Mr. Hedge is connected with the Webb City Undertaking Company.

Personal and Local News: J. H. Aldridge and Henderson Stephenson of Mano were here Saturday and reported the death of Hobart Channell, grandson of Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Channell.

Personal and Local News: W. R. LeCompte of Chillicothe spent Sunday with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. W. LeCompte, in this city. He had been to Eureka Springs to attend a stenographer's convention.

Personal and Local News: D. D. Roller was thrown form a horse Sunday afternoon at his farm just south of town and pretty badly bruised about the face. He had ridden out to his farm to look after some stock when the accident happened. He had a narrow escape from a serious injury.

Personal and Local News: Mr. and Mrs. F. N. Reese and daughters, Misses Lora and Lottie, visited in Monett Sunday.

Personal and Local News: Miss Edith Horine assumed her duties again Monday as deputy county clerk, after an extended vacation.

Obituary: Hobart Channel died at the home of his grandparents, Friday afternoon at 4:30 o'clock. He was born June 3, 1898 and died July 30, 1915, age 17 years, 1 month and 17 days. [Click here to read]

Local and Personal News: Sam McQueen of near Purdy visited his brother, J. S. McQueen, in this city Thursday. He left last week for Clayton, New Mexico where he will locate for the present.

Personal and Local News: L. F. Jones and daughter, Miss Carrie, went to Sedalia Saturday night to visit Mr. Jones' father, Mr. Jones returned Wednesday, Miss Carrie remaining for a longer visit.

Personal and Local News: Charles L. Robinson of Aurora who has traded for the Alger Williams farm at the McMurty spring states that he means to make a number of improvements on the farm. This is a good stock farm and a fine location for a home.

Mineral Springs News: Mrs. J. M. Sisney visited at the parental H. W. McCluer home Thursday night.

Mineral Springs News: Miss Gladys England visited her grandmother, Mrs. Reno, Saturday night and Sunday.

Mineral Springs News: The baby daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. E. Duncan has been very ill, but is better. She is thought to have erysipelas.

Mineral Springs News: Everet Young and wife are visiting his parents, Mr. and Mrs. H. M. Young.

New Salem News: Harve Poe and son Early, and families, returned last week from Oklahoma, where they have been working in the hay fields. Early thinks he will go back to Oklahoma next week.

New Salem News: Ray Cowherd and wife were visiting at Noah Anderson's the last of the week.

Purdy News: Bennie Lewis and family of Cuba, Mo., are visiting his parents, Mr. and Mrs. E. P. Lewis southwest of town.

Purdy News: Alfred Pitts is visiting old friends here. He lives in Oklahoma now.

Washburn News: Harry Woodruff and sister Miss Maud and Mrs. Blanche Wardlow went to Garfield, Ark., last week on a fishing trip.

Washburn News: Wm. Hodge and son, Cecil, of Deering, Kan., came in Thursday to attend his sister's marriage.

Washburn News: A. H. Woodruff's sister and son from Oklahoma came Monday to make them a visit. This is the first time Mr. Woodruff has seen his sister in forty years. Their meeting was very happy.

Washburn News: Paul Varner and Nora Hodge were married Sunday afternoon, Aug 8, at the home of the bride's father, Rev. P. H. Hodge, Rev. Luther Carlin officiating. We extend congratulations.

Flat Creek News: Rev. D. F. Coones and little daughter, Opal, left Thursday for an extended visit in Texas.

Flat Creek News: Medge Ellis of Crane visited a few days last week with her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Carney.

Flat Creek News: Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Carney and little daughter Blanche, went to Galena Sunday to visit at the home of Frank Taylor, returning home Monday evening.

Flat Creek News: A Mr. Whitney and family and Mr. Montgomery and Hade Wilson and wife all of the Mountain Home locality are stopping at Mrs. Samantha Moore's during a fishing trip.

Independence News: Mrs. Margaret Antel is visiting her sister, Mrs. Tom Stevens, east of Exeter.

Obituary: Francis Marion Horn, was born in Washington County, Pa., Dec 31, 1836, where he spent his early manhood and was married at the age of 21 years to Miss Arminda Morrison of Washington County, Pa. After which they moved to Wright County, Minn., and settled on a homesteaded where he lived for 20 years. To this union were born six chidden of whom four are living. They are Mrs. Drusilla Shaffer of Frederick, Wis., Mrs. Joseph Robinson of Bertha, Minn., J. S. Horn of Emerado, N. D., Miss M. E. Horn of Minneapolis, Minn.

His wife died April 6, 1852, after which he came to Howell County, Mo., where he married Mrs. Minnie Atkinson. They moved to Seligman, Mo., ____ became actively engaged in the hardware business. To this union were born 4 children, two of who are living, Miss Hazel and Francis Horn. His wife died June 1, 1913. He retired form business Feb 25, 1915.

He died at his home in Seligman, July 31, 1915, of apoplexy, age 78 years and 7 months. He had lived a faithful, consistent Christian life until God called him to his reward. Hew as a kind and devoted husband and father, a member of the Presbyterian Church and the Masonic order.

Personal and Local News: Tuesday out on the Jenkins road Dr. Periman of Jenkins, who was driving in his auto, met W. C. Robertson, superintendent of the county farm who was driving in a buggy, on a grade where he could not stop his car. Seeing that he had lost control of the car, Periman signaled Robertson who jumped from his buggy and escaped injury, but the buggy was pretty badly damaged. Dr. Periman then took Mr. Robertson home. The only damage done to the auto was the braking of one light.

Personal and Local News: Mr. and Mrs. Roy D. Reynolds and son, Deck, returned Sunday night to St. Louis, following an extended visit with relatives in this city.

Personal and Local News: Mr. and Mrs. Alger Williams moved Saturday to Aurora from the farm southwest of town which they traded last week for a stock of hardware at Aurora.

Personal and Local News: R. M. Morgan of Newton County and William Morgan of Temple, Tex., spent last week in this vicinity on a visit. They are brothers and had not seen each other for years.

Butterfield News: Mr. Williams has bought out the cold drink and restaurant business of Bessie Demoss.

New Salem News: W. W. McCollum is able to be out again after quite a sick spell.

Line News: Earl Wooding of Aurora and Miss Mary Miller, daughter of Jake Miller, went to Mt. Vernon Saturday and were united in marriage about one o'clock, Mrs. Miller accompanying them. They all came back to Aurora and they started to Kansas Saturday night to visit his people. We wish them a long and prosperous life.

Sunny Side News: Austin Reid went to Monett Saturday where he will visit relatives a few days.

Sunny Side News: Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Stapleton visited at Grandma Still's Sunday.

Seligman News: W. W. Frost married a couple Sunday, a Miss Gebhart east of town and a young man from near Wheaton.

Seligman News: Corbett F. Wilcox has been employed as book-keeper for the Bank of Seligman. He is a bright young man and handles the sixty to eighty thousand ledger without a bobble.

Shell Knob News: James Z. Higgs and Mrs. Lafanche Williamson were married last Thursday at Cassville.

Cross Hollows News: We are sorry to learn that Will Wilson's infant babe stays on the sick list.

Cross Hollows News: Our school started Monday with Noah Widders as teacher.

Washburn News: Doc Burks died at his home, Aug 14th, 1915 of tuberculosis, after a long illness. He leaves mother, sister and young wife to mourn his death. He was 20 years of age, and was born and reared in Washburn. His funeral was preached at residence by Rev. P. H. Hodge, burial at Washburn Prairie Cemetery. He was converted a few days before his death. We extend sympathy to the bereaved ones.

Pleasant Ridge News: Mrs. Ida Eagle and daughter, Ethel, of Monett visited on the Ridge Saturday night and Sunday.

Pleasant Ridge News: Adam Lamp's little boy was run over by a wagon Friday. He died Saturday. The remains were laid to rest in the Arnhart Cemetery Sunday. The bereaved have our sympathy.

Corinth News: Ed Daugherty and mother, Mrs. N. G. Baker, of Purdy and Henry Weston and family of this part were visiting with Dr. Perkins and wife Sunday.

Cedar Bluff News: J. C. Hemphill, clerk from Cedar bluff, attended the teacher's meeting at Seligman last week and reports a real interesting time with a large attendance form all over the country.

Butterfield News: A Mr. Combs of Springfield was here this week visiting the family of his soil. The family lives in the Mt. Pleasant neighborhood an the son has been in the Kansas wheat fields for some time. Mr. Combs said there were not related to the Combs' of this county, that he knew of.

Butterfield News: Jno. Marlow who lives in the Gunter district is seriously ill with typhoid fever.

Seligman R. F. D. 3 News: Mrs. Henry Brewer is quite sick at present with lung trouble.

Seligman R. F. D. 3 News: Arthur Maloney has returned from Nebraska where he has been working for the Sherman boys.

Seligman R. F. D. 3 News: School at Munsey is progressing nicely with Homer West teacher. This is Homer's first school and we wish him success.

Seligman R. F. D. 3 News: Last Thursday our mail carrier, Troy Cornell, got water bound and had to stay all night on the river and return to Seligman the next day about nine o'clock.

Seligman R. F. D. 3 News: C. K. Tucker of Gravette, Ark., has been visiting his mother the past week. He reports crops good in Arkansas. Charles has farmed one year in Arkansas and says he likes it fine.

Seligman R. F. D. 3 News: Ed E. Yates of Kansas City has returned home after a month's visit at Roaring River. There have been several families from Kansas City spending the summer months there this year.

Seligman R. F. D. 3 News: W. M. Preston has returned home from Macksville, Kan., where he put in several days in the harvest field.

Mineral Springs News: It is with a very sad heart we chronicle the death of John Brandon who departed this life Aug 19. He was in his usual state of health. While doing his work during the morning in the hard rain; he got very wet and about noon went up stairs to change clothes. He was found there on his bed about 1:00 p.m. by his brother, dead. Death due to heart failure. John was 39 years and 8 months old. He was highly respected by all who knew him and will be greatly missed in the singing class and other places where he was ever person. Funeral services were conducted by Bro. Riddle at the Baptist church and the body laid to rest in the cemetery nearby Friday, August 20.

Seligman News: Omer Wilson and Minnie Abbott were quietly married by Squire Hulsey the last of the week.

Horner News: A small girl of Mr. Will Henbest's has been very sick for the last few days. She is reported some better.

Purdy News: Virgil Campbell, Sap Lane, and R. W. Whittington joined the Modern Woodmen here last Friday night.

Purdy News: Mrs. H. V. Eyler and grandson left Purdy for Havana, Ill., last week to make that their future home. Mrs. Eyler's brother, Fred Emmons accompanied them.

New Site News: Miss Alma Abernathy of Pierce City spent the week end with Knowles Haddock and attended church at New Site Sunday.

New Site News: Dow Wormington and Miss Goldie Phillip, two popular young people of our neighborhood were married at the home of the bride on Aug 22.

Personal and Local News: Mr. and Mrs. John Mitchell returned Tuesday from Crawfordville, Ind. where they were called they death of a nephew of Mrs. Mitchell who was killed with his car collided with a passenger train at a railway crossing near Crawfordville. Mr. Mitchell says that the corn crop in Indiana and Illinois is extra good an will in a large measure make up for the shortage there for the past two years.

Personal and Local News: Emmett freeze took an auto load to Aurora Wednesday to attend the circus.

Personal and Local News: Mr. and Mrs. Albert Eagleston and James Eagleston of Wllawee, Okla., came in last week to attend their father, James Eagleston of Mano, who is very low of dropsy.

Personal and Local News: Miss Stella Brittan of Republic, who had been visiting her aunt, Mrs. E. N. Winters, in this city, returned home Friday.

Personal and Local News: Mr. and Mrs. N. H. Meyers are entertaining at their home north of Cassville on Flat Creek, Mrs. Meyers' sister and children and Mr. and Mrs. F. C. Shelhorn of Rush County, Ind. They made the trip over land in Mr. Shelborn's car. They arrived Wednesday of last week just in time to escape the high waters along the route.

Personal and Local News: Mr. and Mrs. H. S. Chenoweth, 2 1/2 miles southeast of Purdy announce the approaching marriage of their daughter Eulah Eldeon to Mr. Charles Eugene Hood who lives 1 1/2 miles south of Purdy, to take place Sunday September 12th, at 9:15 p.m. at the Christian Church in Purdy. Rev. Yarborough will officiate.

Personal and Local News: Earl Barcus and wife and daughter of Nodaway County, and Lawrence Hill and wife and Mrs. Hill's sister, Mrs. Chas. Nichols are visiting Mr. and Mrs. J.C. Barcus.

Personal and Local News: Allen Stubblefield returned to Black Oak, Ark., the first of the week after a seven week's visit with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Clay Stubblefield, south of town. Allen has invested in land at Black Oak and says that the crop on his farm this year is fine.

Purdy News: The little twin baby of Mr. and Mrs. Bayless of Webb City died Saturday evening at the home of Mrs. Smith its grandmother in Purdy and was interred at Arnhart Monday.

Personal and Local News: Attorney Robert Brown and family of St. Joseph are expected today (Thursday) for a visit with Mr.. Brown's father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. L. G. Brown and brother A. L., and family.

Local and Personal News: J. N. Skelton of Eagle Rock was in Cassville Friday. He says that much damage has been done on Roaring and White Rivers by the high water. Many farmers have lost their corn crop in the low bottoms where it was overflowed and heavy deposits of sand and gravel made.

Local and Personal News: Arthur Eagleston who attended his father, James Eagleston of Mano during his last illness, returned home Thursday.

Local and Personal News: Mrs. S. D. Coats and Mrs. Emma Johnson, who have been visiting their mother, Mrs. I. P. Bowman have returned to their homes at Bernice, Okla., and at Medicine Lodge, Kans.

Local and Personal News: Mrs. L.A. Dunbar and little daughter, Margurite, are spending a few days with relatives at Siloam Springs.

Personal and Local News: Mr. and Mrs. Brit Carlin, D. Wilkerson, Mr. and Mrs. A. F. Wormington and Miss Ida Lautratet of Monett attended the Baptist Sunday School convention at Cassville Monday.

Personal and Local News: Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Jennings and children of Okeehe, Okla., visited the family of L. A. Dunbar in this city Wednesday and Thursday of last week. Mrs. Jennings and Mrs. Dunbar are sisters.

Personal and Local News: Mr. and Mrs. James Anderson were called to Aurora last week on account of the illness of Mr. Anderson's father, Thomas Anderson, who has been in poor health for sometime and who had three ribs broken last week as a result of an accident.

Personal and Local News: The home of Daniel Cares of near Hailey was destroyed by fire on Tuesday afternoon of last week. It is believed the fire originated from the flue in the kitchen. Some clothing and a few pieces of kitchen furniture and some quits were the only things saved. $400 insurance was carried on the dwelling and $100 on the contents. The insurance it is said will cover about one-half the loss.

Personal and Local News: Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Henry and daughter, Miss Gladys Henry, and Buford Wilks returned Sunday evening from a trip in Mr. Henry's car to Richland where Mr. Henry visited his only brother. He states that the roads between Springfield and Richland are very bad for automobile travel. They drove from Cassville to Springfield in five hours but were a day and a half going from Springfield to Richland a distance by rail of only about 80 miles.

Mrs. Ann Anderson, wife of Vanus Anderson, died at their home two miles west of this city Wednesday, Sept 1, of cancer, age 61 years. [Click here to read]

Personal and Local News: Mrs. C. M. Landis returned Sunday night from Berryville where she had been called on account of the illness of her uncle, Dr. George.

County Court September Term: Rock Creek and Mano telephone line granted the right to erect telephone poles along the public highways of Barry County.

Bethel No. 2 News: Mrs. Paul Reynaud and little son, Norman, returned Saturday night from Hulbert, Okla., where they had been visiting Mrs. Reynaud's brother, John Courdin and family.

New Site News: Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Higgins and Ora Higgins will leave the last of this week to resume their school week at William Jewell College at Liberty. Ora's wife and son will not go for a few weeks on account of the ill health of her mother, Mrs. D. L. Laureate.

Flat Creek News: The little babe of Mr. and Mrs. John Bibb who has been seriously sick is reported to be better at this writing.

Flat Creek News: We were sorry to hear of the death of Mrs. Mellie Carney of near Cape Fair who died Monday, Sept 6th of typhoid fever. To the bereaved we extend our heartfelt sympathy.

Mineral Spring News: The death angel visited the home of Mr. and Mrs. Everet Baker Saturday morning about 1 o'clock and claimed their infant daughter, Lois. Little Lois was about one year and a half old. Her death was due to membranous croup. The funeral service was conducted at Horner by Rev. Ireland and the little body laid to rest in the Horner Cemetery.

Mineral Springs News: Mrs. Eliz Gleason, a pioneer and highly respected citizen of the county died at her home in Mineral Thursday, Sept 9. She is survived by a son, Charley, of Coldwater, Kansas and a brother in Ohio. Funeral services were conducted a the church by Bro. Riddle and her body laid to rest in the cemetery nearby, Friday. Charley was with her during her last hours. He returned to his family.

Mrs. Gleason Dead: Mrs. Eliza Gleason died at her home at Mineral Springs, Thursday, September 9, at the age of 78 years.

Mrs. Gleason was born in Union County, Ohio, in 1837. She was married to Saul Gleason May 22, 1869. To them three children were born. One daughter who died at six years of age and two sons Charles and Wallace. Charles is now the only member of the family living. Mr. Gleason and son Wallace, both died in 1902. Charles lives at Coldwater, Kan. The family had been residents of this county since 1885.

Mrs. Gleason had been for many years a devoted member of the Methodist Church and was an estimable woman.

The funeral was held Friday conducted by Rev. Riddle and interment made in the cemetery at Mineral Springs.

Obituary: Hoover Beeson was born in Indiana, Feb 9, 1832. Died Sept 3, 1915, age 83 years, 6 months and 24 days.

His parents moved from Indiana to Illinois when he was two years old. When he was about 9 years old they moved to Iowa where he grew to manhood and lived until 1870. In that year he came to Barton County, Missouri and located on a farm south of Lamar. In 1896 he moved to this county and located northeast of Cassville where he continued to live until he died.

Mr. Beeson was married to Nancy J. Jeffers in Warren County, Iowa, Sept 21, 1856. To them seven children were born. Two, John I., and Mrs. Alice Hicks, are dead. The five living are Sam, Henry, Albert, Mrs. Will Pasley and Mrs. Martie Ennis, all of whom live northeast of Cassville. Mrs. Beeson, died Jan 25, 1886.

About seven years ago Mr. Beeson and Mrs. Mattie J. Hudson were married. His second wife passed away Mary 21, 1915.

He professed faith in Christ at an early age and united with the United Brethren Church. When he moved to Barton County in 1870 he found there no members of his church so he united with the Methodist Church. His membership continued with the church until about seven years ago when in order to be with his wife he united with the Christian Church and remained a faithful member until death.

Mr. Beeson was reared by Quaker parents and possessed many of the characteristic of that excellent people. His life was a splendid example of the man who lives an exalter Christian life. He was a kind husband and father and a good citizen.

Funeral services were held at the Baptist Church at Mineral Springs conducted by Rev. J. W. Ennis and the body laid to rest in the cemetery at Mineral Springs.
