The little eight months old babe of Mr. and Mrs. Mead Miller of Washburn Prairie died Sunday night of pneumonia. Funeral services conduced by Rev. E. W. Love were held at the home Monday afternoon and the little body laid to rest in the Washburn Prairie Cemetery.

R. W. Smith, youngest son of Rev. M. Smith of Exeter, and Miss Foster of Springfield were married in Springfield Sunday, June 6. They came to Exeter Sunday where they were entertained at the home of rev. Smith and were a fine dinner was set for them and a large number of invited friends of the family. They are to make their home in Springfield where Mr. Smith has a position with the Frisco.

Jesse L. Dodson of Wichita, Kan., and Miss Fern Kersey of Exeter were married in this city Saturday. Rev. E. W. Love said the ceremony that made this excellent young couple man and wife. Those who know Mr. Dodson speak highly of him. Mrs. Dodson is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Kersey well known citizens of Exeter. She is a very popular young lady and has a host of friends in this city who join the REPUBLICAN in wishing that her married life may be happy and useful.

Pleasant Ridge News: A very quiet wedding took place at the home of Wayland Crouch Monday evening about 4:30 o'clock in which Lema Duffy and Miss Ora Black were united in marriage, John Pennell officiating. Only the near relatives and a few friends were present. They will make their home for the present on Porter Calton's place about a quarter north of the school house. We extend our very best wishes to them.

Seven Year Old Child seriously Hurt in Father's Carpenter Shop: Ruth, little seven year old daughter of Will Joslin, was seriously injured Friday afternoon at her father's carpenter shop in west part of town. While picking up shavings on the floor of the shop her clothing was caught by a line shaft in rapid motion from gasoline power, and she was hurried about the shaft until al her clothing was torn from her body and she was left unconscious on the floor before her father who was busy at a turning lathe knew what had happened.

The grief stricken father and grandmother at once called physicians who found the little child in a very critical condition. Her body was badly bruised and the bone of the upper right arm was broken. Examination indicated every serious internal injuries especially of the spine and nervous system.

Mr. Joslin has his carpenter shop equipped with gasoline power an was busily engaged Friday afternoon on work which it necessary to have the engine in operation. His mother, who makes her home with him and asked Ruth to bring her some shavings, from the shop with which to start a fire for preparing supper. Ruth entered the shop, which is close by the house, unnoticed by her father. She not realizing the danger went too close to the moving machinery and her clothes were caught resulting in the sad accident.

Physicians gave the case the very closest attention and they express little hope of her recovery.
