Gunter News: We are sorry to hear of the death of the seven year old son of Allen Baker. The bereaved ones have our heartfelt sympathy.

Gunter News: Mrs. Mary Whittington is on the sick list.

Gunter News: Uncle Martin Blalock and Boyd Boyd and wife attended church at Macedonia Sunday.

Gunter News: Mrs. John Terry had a stroke of paralysis one day last week. She is some better at present.

Gunter News: Kelly Terry and sister of Carthage are at the bedside of their mother, Mrs. John Terry. Mrs. Haney and children are also attending her.

Osa News: Uncle Billie Johnson is able to be out again.

Osa News: Aunt Susie Forbus who has not been able to walk for over a year went up to her nephews, Jack Wise and stayed two nights and two days, she had a nice trip.

Washburn Prairie News: Mrs. Lewis Smith of Eagle Rock and Mrs. P.E. Smith of Corinth spent Saturday very pleasantly at the home of the latter's mother, Mrs. H. J. Hopkins.

Washburn Prairie News: Chas. Bryant, our school teacher spent from Wednesday to Sunday at his home in Cassville.

Washburn Prairie News: Grandpa Sparkman is spending a few days at the home of his daughter, Mrs. S. T. Sims of Horner.

Rocky Comfort News: A baby boy was born to Mr. and Mrs. Roy Antle, Saturday, Nov 21.

Independence News: Mrs. Ivy Packwood who is sick with the fever is slowly improving.

Independence News: Mr. and Mrs. H. H. Wooten and daughter, Miss Omah, were Cassville visitors, Monday.

Washburn News: Mrs. Fain and sister Mrs. Harrison Antle, and children returned Wednesday from Deering, Kan. [Click here to read]

Seligman News: Mr. McRay of Monett spent Thanksgiving with his daughter. Mrs. H. A. Walker, Mr. and Mrs. Fuller of Washburn of Washburn spent the day with Mr. Brown. G. W. Finn set dinner for his family and relatives and many were present.

Seligman News: Floyd Still, south of town, is again able to be up.

Seligman News: Aunt Elizabeth Roller, east of town, is very sick.

Seligman News: Clinton Northcutt who is attending school at Springfield was home over the holidays.

Seligman News: James Gann has resigned his position with W. C. Fawver on account of buying a store of his own.

Oak Ridge News: Mrs. M. J. Robertson, came in from Tulsa, Okla., Nov 18, to help nurse her daughter, Mrs. Alta Bush, who is sick.

Oak Ridge News: The boys gave Mr. and Mrs. Marshall Hankins an old time big noisy charivari Monday night. Some of the ladies also helped.

Oak Ridge News: Marshall Hankins and Mamie Burk drove to the home of F. M. Reynolds near Clay Hill Sunday evening and were married, F. M. Reynolds officiating. We extend congratulations.

Oak Ridge News: Chas. Bradley and wife of North Missouri came in Nov 17 to be at the bedside of his mother, Mrs. W. H. Bradley, who recently died. [Click here to read]

Sunnyside News: Elijah Reid passed peacefully away Thursday at one o'clock Nov. 26, 1916, at his home near Pea Ridge. [Click here to read]

Cedar Bluff News: Harve Truhitte has sold his interest in the Truhitte Bros. Store to his brother, Will.

Cedar Bluff News: Ben Shipman who has been very low with typhoid fever is thought to be a little better.

Flat Creek News: Miss Ethel Carney and little Blanche visited Saturday night and Sunday at the home of Frank Taylor at Galena. She reports that Grandma Carney is able to be up some now.

Shell Knob News: Pleas. Cooper's house and contents were destroyed by fire last week.

A three year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Cleo Wilder, east of town, died Thursday night of stomach trouble. Interment was made Friday at the Oak Hill Cemetery.

Thos. Calton, a highly respected citizen of Pleasant Ridge township was in Cassville on business Saturday. Mr. Calton has lately been able to be up without the use of crutches from the results of a broken limb received a year ago.

Mr. and Mrs. L. E. Scriber of Rogers, Ark., were called here Friday by the death of their little granddaughter, Olive Beagle.

Rev. Luther Carlin has moved from Granby to his farm south of town. He has a throat trouble which prevents him from much speaking and he has been obliged to give up his Granby work in the Baptist Church. Monett Times.

The trial of Orville Edens charged with disturbing the peace of George Vandorn was heard before Justice of the Peace H. P. Sons Wednesday of last week. The jury rendered a verdict of acquittal for Edens.

W. A. Sapp and Alonzo McCracken and families have recently returned to their home northwest of town after a year's stay a Wylie, Tex. Mr. Sapp was in Cassville Friday and stated he was glad to be back in Barry County.

Samuel James of Oklahoma has been enjoying a visit with his brothers, Chas., south of town and Tobe on Roaring River.

William Tucker of near Golden left Friday evening for a visit with relative at Joplin and Kansas City.

Mrs. Ethel Terry of Monett has been visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Alonzo Frost, east of town.

Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Ray, Mrs. Kate Griffith and C.D. Manley attended the funeral of Mrs. Wm. Blannerhassett at Monett, Wednesday of last week.

J. T. Cook and family of Spearville, Kan., are visiting his daughter, Mrs. Chas. Wallen, east of town. They formerly resided in the forest Grove locality.

Clevy Blythe, a 16 year old boy, was killed near Crane last evening by the accidental discharge of a shotgun in the hands of William Craig, 16 years of age, of this place, while the boys were hunting ducks.

Joplin News Herald: We are informed the deceased was not a relative of the Blythe families of this county.

Sheriff G. M. Brixey placed under arrest Tuesday, Rande Garrett of Wheaton and a Mr. Garrison of the Doss locality. [Click here to read]

C. D. Manley went to Joplin Sunday evening to be present at the investigation of the murder of Mrs. Louisa Hagenbauch, a sister of Mose Ingram. [Click here to read]

Orlo Arbuckle who is in from Washington D. C., visiting his parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. M. Arbuckle, south of town, went to Oklahoma, Tuesday for a week's visit with a brother.

Roaring River News: Rev. James Carter of Eureka Springs, Ark., delivered two excellent discourses at the school house, Sunday and Sunday night.

Roaring River News: Mrs. W. E. Puett received word Friday that her father, H. J. Hood of Aurora had his arm broken. The cause of his injury was not learned.

Purdy News: The little girls of James Beagle were handling a gun and not knowing it was loaded the larger one shot the younger one in the back. She lived all night and died next morning. They took her body to Rogers, Ark., for burial.

Wayne News: Paul Zeagler is very sick with typhoid fever.

Mr. and Mrs. M.A. Galloway have returned from a visit with their son, Charles and family at Lamar.

Rev. W. A. Ireland who recently moved to Purdy has sold his 20 acre farm south of town to Orville Eden. Consideration $1,000.

William T. Ellston of Springfield, a widely known business man of this section of the state succumbed suddenly to heart trouble. [Click here to read]

Marvin, the little son of Mr. and Mrs. Cleo Wilder, died Thursday night, Nov 26, 1914, about 12 o'clock of stomach trouble. [Click here to read]

The case of George Cox vs. Lester Box, a replevin suit for damages came up Tuesday before Justice H. P. Sons. The jury rendered a verdict in favor of the plaintiff. H. A. Gardener of Monett was the attorney for the plaintiff and J. W. George for the defendant.

Purdy News: Uncle Tom Swaffer is smiling now because of the arrival of an heir at his home.

Purdy News: Wm. Lathim has been employed to teach the seventh and eight grades in the Purdy school filing the vacancy made by the registration of Jas. S. Rhea.

Leann News: Will Latham has resigned his school here after this month and accepted a position at Purdy to finish the unexpired term there vacated by Mr. Rhea. We regret very much to lose Mr. Latham as he is an excellent teacher. [Two different spellings - Lathim and Latham.]

Rock Springs News: J. D. Berryhill of Washburn is sawing wood in this section this week.

Rock Springs News: The old Stephen Burnett farm originally owned by a Mr. Davis of Christian County has been sold to a railroad conductor at Monett for $11,000.

Pasley News: Uncle Miles Massey of Thomas Hollow was buried at the Corinth Cemetery Sunday. Funeral Services were conducted by Bro. Coons of Cassville.

Pasley News: Misses Lela and Lola Erwin of Wayne were visiting their grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Smith, and other relatives of this place Sunday.

Flat Creek News: The little babe of Mr. and Mrs. Everett Jordan died Sunday night, Nov 29 and was laid to rest in the Carney Cemetery, Nov 30. The bereaved parents have the sympathy of the community.

Hazel Dell News: Everett Powell, justice of the peace of Liberty township performed his first marriage ceremony Saturday evening. The contracting parties were Ova Harper and a Miss Burton of near New Hope Church.

Washburn News: Mrs. Jane Hunt Long died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Laura Brixey in Grove, Okla., Dec 5. [Click here to read]

A shot was discharged from a shotgun at E.W. Kinnaman at his home Monday evening abut 7:30 o'clock. Mr. Kinnaman states he had just ate supper and was standing in the dinning room door when the incident occurred. Mr. Kinnaman states the shot struck his body and a part of the dinning room. He says had it not been for the screen door the shot would have proved serious. So far no arrest has been made. Mr. Kinnaman offers a reward of $100.00 for the arrest and conviction of the guilty party.

Mrs. Nellie Underwood of Aurora, widow of the late Oscar Underwood, who was killed some months ago by a Missouri Pacific train near Aurora, was awarded $7,352? damages in the Carthage circuit court last week.

Green Reese of Lawrence County, visited his brothers, F. N. and Al, and families Saturday and Sunday.

Mrs. Keith of Bentonville, Ark., has been visiting her daughter, Mrs. will Hedge.

Rev. John Elkins left last week for a short visit with a brother at Greenville, Ill. Following his visit he will go to Oblong, Ill., to hold a series of meetings.

Horace Stacy and Miss Flossie Fisher both of this city were married Monday night. Horace is a son of J. T. Stacy and is a young man of industry and good habits. The bride is a daughter of R. R. Fisher and enjoys the esteem of a wide circle of friends. They are receiving the congratulations of their many friends.

Mrs. Hazel Gramlich and little son, Russell, went to Willow Springs Tuesday.

Card of Thanks: We desire to thank the friends and relatives of their kindness and assistance during the sickness and death of our beloved mother. We also extend out thanks to the Washburn Prairie choir and Rev. H. P. Hodge who so beautifully conducted the funeral.

Obituary: Elizabeth Roller was born Feb 1, 1835, near Nashville, Tenn., and died Nov 29, 1914, age 79 years, 9 months and 22 days. With her parents she left Tennessee in her infancy and lived at Little Rock, Ark., about one year. She came to Barry County when he was about 3 years old, where she has lived ever since.

At the age of 20, she married to Daniel Roller, whom God permitted live with her 42 years. She was the mother of 13 children, 10 of whom are left to mourn her death, 52 grandchildren, 48 living, 21 great-grandchildren, 18 living. Besides being a mother of all these she was a mother to all who knew her. But now it has been God's will to call her home and she has gone beckoning as to follow. She is asleep, the sleep which her faith has brought.

Gunter News: The infant babe of Mr. and Mrs. P. A. Roller died Saturday morning. It's body was interred at the Arnhart Cemetery, Saturday evening. The bereaved parents and relatives have out heartfelt sympathy.

Gunter News: Mr. and Mrs. Arley Russell who have been visiting friend and relatives in Barry County have returned to Seattle, Wash. Miss Emma Rusch accompanied them where she and Walter Riddle are going to be united in marriage. We wish them life of happiness.

Gunter News: D. P. McPhail visited his sons, W. S. and John McPhail from Friday to Sunday.

Seligman News: A small child was burned to death at Herd, Ark., Saturday night.

New Site News: We are glad to see Miss Naomi Bounous able to resume her school work.

Shell Knob News: Ethel Greenstreet is able to go to her school

Schell Knob News: S.T. Ledgerwood has bought Everett Brock's store and took charge of same Saturday. We have not learned what Everett intends to do.

Mano News: Ernest Holman and Blanch Tucker are at Marionville taking treatment.

Mano News: Mrs. E. B. Holman is slowly improving from an attack of typhoid fever.

Eagle Rock News: Aunt Jane Whittington who was called to the bedside of her daughter, Mrs. Lockwood, at Monett, sometime ago has returned to the home of her son, R. W. Whittington.

Eagle Rock News: Rev. Jim Carter of Arkansas is moving on Grandma Hall's place near Eagle Rock.

Eagle Rock News: Miss Ollie Couch, the oldest child of Elliott Couch, peacefully passed away Thursday morning about 8 o'clock age 17 years. We all sympathize with the bereaved family in their hour of sorrow. Her body was laid to rest Friday at the Munsey Cemetery.

Pleasant Ridge News: Mrs. Thomas Marbut died at her home Friday morning, Dec 11, 1914, of consumption. She leaves a husband, two little girls, a mother, five sisters and two brothers to mourn her death. Funeral services were conducted at the Calton Church, Saturday morning. Bro. Francis Goodnight conducted the funeral services. She was a member of the Methodist Church. We extend sympathy to the bereaved family and relatives.

Rocky Comfort News: On Friday evening, Dec 5, at 4 o'clock, E. C. Fluty died at his home here in Rocky Comfort, after a lingering illness of several months. Mr. Fluty was among the first settlers in this county. Independent.

Rocky Comfort News: A daughter of Richard Scroggins died Monday, Dec 7, and was buried in the Chitwood Cemetery.

Shiloh News: Mrs. Lottie Sullivan moved back to her father's J.D. Long, Saturday.

Washburn News: Doc Burke and Miss Laura Ash went to Bentonville, Ark., last week and were married.

Mineral Springs News: Mr. and Mrs. Farmer Ennis are the proud parents of a fine boy, born Dec 6. Farmer says he is going to get it a primer for a X'mas present.

Union Valley News: Mrs. J. W. Still of near Cassville visited her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Cole, Wednesday and Thursday of last week.

New Salem News: Miss Laura Roller, who is teaching our school, is preparing to have a Christmas tree at the school house.

Sunnyside News: The little 4 year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Devins caught fire from the stove Saturday evening about six o'clock, while her mother was at the barn. When the child discovered she was afire she started to her mother and when she reached the barn her clothes were all burned off. She died about 11 o'clock Saturday night. Interment was made Sunday at the Bayless Cemetery. The family have our deepest sympathy.

Arnhart News: John Ellis and wife of Verona spent Saturday night and Sunday with their son, William Ellis, whose wife is just recovering from typhoid fever.

Arnhart News: The infant babe of Perry Roller was laid to rest at the Arnhart cemetery Friday of last week. The bereaved ones have out sympathy.

Mount Pleasant News: A very bad accident happened to our teacher of the Pleasant Valley school as he was going to school last Monday. As he turned the corner by the church his buggy turned over, throwing him out. It is feared that the bone in his left wrist is broken. He dismissed for the rest of the day. He seemed to be hurt badly, but we hope not serious.

East Point News: Walter Anderson and Mrs. Mary Allison were married at the residence of Rev. J. W. Ennis Thursday, Dec 10. Rev. Ennis officiating.

Obituary: Mrs. Mary Truax, nee Hodge, daughter of Rev. and Mrs. P. Hodge was born in East Tennessee, Oct 28, 1869. She came to Missouri with her parents in infancy. In 1900 she was married to Henry Norman. In later years she was married to Levi Truax.

She was converted at the age of 14 and lived a faithful Christian life. Our Heavenly Father called her home on Nov 21, 1914, after many weeks of painful suffering, she bore it all with patience. She wanted to live for the sake of her loved ones, but when she knew the end was near she was ready and willing to go. She read her Bible as long as she had strength and often called for loved ones to pray and sing with her special songs she selected to be sung at her funeral and also the scripture lessons she wanted read.

She leaves a husband, father, mother, four brothers and three sisters to mourn her death. Her remains were laid to rest Nov 22 in the Robins Cemetery near Dearing, Kans., to await the resurrection day.

Earth has lost a precious jewel, Heaven has gained a sprit fair and we know if we are faithful we will meet her over there.

A precious one from us has gone, a voice we loved is stilled, there is a vacancy in our home which never can be filled.

God in his wisdom hath recalled. The boon his love and given and through the body slumbers here the soul is daft in Heaven.

J.C. Tucker will hold a public sale Friday, December 18, at his farm on White River at the old Golden Ferry. He offers for sale 2 good mares, 4 good milch cows, 6 calves, 8 head of fine hogs, 800 bushels of corn and hay and other food, farm implements and household goods. Lunch will be served on the ground. Al Hudson of Fairview will auctioneer be the sale.

Crawford Brixey and wife of Grove, Okla., visited his brother, Sheriff G. M. Brixey and family last week.

Pleasant Ridge News: Grace Eckman died Thursday morning at an early hour after a short illness of typhoid fever. The funeral was held at the Sweed Baptist Church in Verona Saturday afternoon after which the body was laid to rest in the Spring River Cemetery. We extend our sympathy tot he bereaved.

Pleasant Ridge News: Floyd Beck and Miss Avesta Edwards were married Sunday at the home of John Pennell who performed the ceremony. We extend congregations to them.

Pasley News: Mr. and Mrs. B. B. Hefly are visiting their daughter, Mrs. Mamie Wheeler, in Oklahoma, at present.

Wayne News: Our school teacher, Miss Hallie McCants, will spend New Year's at her home in Kansas.

Oak Ridge News: Mr. Reynolds, our teacher got the sad news Sunday notifying him of the death of his father at Newton, Kan., at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Jennie Henley. Henry Reynolds was 81 years old. He had lived in Oak Ridge district since the early seventies, except for the last few years he has lived with is son, Frank of Madry and a daughter, Mrs. Darb Henley of Kansas. He was a member of the Baptist Church and was the moving power that built the Baptist Church at Oak Ridge on the place owned by Mr. Payne. He leaves three sons, Frank of Madry, Albert of Kansas, Thomas of Oak Ridge and one son in the west and six daughters, one somewhere in the west Dora Newby of Kansas, Lillie Shumard of Florida, Jennie Henley of Kansas, Viola Baker and Annie Wallen of Cassville. The remains were shipped to Cassville and buried in the Horner Cemetery Tuesday. To the bereaved we extend our sympathy.

Oak Ridge News: James Craig's babe which was quite sick is better.

Oak Ridge News: Born to Frank Hall and wife, Saturday, Dec 19, a boy. Mother and babe are doing fine. Frank is wearing nails in his shoes to keep from sliding on the ice.

Flat Creek News: Those who were baptized Sunday Dec 13, as converts of the Holy Roller meeting were Clay Buckhannon and wife, Elbert Potter and wife, Lawrence McCormack and wife, Hint Foster, Mrs. Florence Stallion and Misses Anna Foster and Oma Stone.

Rocky Comfort News: G. J. Ragain of Exeter, came down Wednesday and took his neice, [niece] Miss Wanda Strother, home with him. Miss Strother will visit Mr. and Mrs. Ragain for a short time, after which she will spend the remainder of he winter with her sister, Mrs. Wilhite of McDowell.

Willow Branch News: Willie Widders of Arkansas visited his brother, Noah, last week.

Willow Branch News: Miss Carrie Stockton, our teacher, and Noah Widders, teacher at Lone Elm, will entertain the school children on Christmas tree at Lone Elm by having a Christmas tree.

Exeter News: Born to Rev. and Mrs. Chas. Vanzandt Saturday, December 19th, son.

Butterfield News: While Ben Ray was going to his school last week the horse turned the buggy over and broke his arm. He has dismissed school for a few days.

Butterfield News: Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Holder spent last week with her mother, Mrs. Roblyer, at Wayne.

Mrs. Hugh Brixey and children went to Monett Tuesday evening for a visit with Mrs. Brixey's parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Thomas.

Deputy Sheriff Hugh Brixey brought in Roy Peirce from Tulsa, Okla., Sunday, charged with felonious assault, Perice formerly resided near Purdy and has been wanted on this charge for some time.

Seligman News: Our school closed Friday. We had one of the best terms of school we have had for years. Mr. Tatman and Miss Bennett are teachers of ability and have given entire satisfaction in our town. At the close of school each room gave at the Electrical Hall an entertainment. The entertainments were of high class, well prepared and well tendered and greatly enjoyed by fathers and mothers of the district. All in al our school was satisfactory and all are well pleased.

Seligman News: Adam Skelton, east of town is very sick. Mr. Skelton has been failing in health for the past year or so.

Washburn News: Miss Juanita Henbest is visiting relatives at Fayetteville, Ark., this week.

George Wilder and wife of Maxwell, Kan., returned home Sunday after several days visit with their son, Cleo, and family and old acquaintance east of town.

The Monett Times records the birth of a daughter on December 16 to Mr. and Mrs. Emory Smith.

Ross Peck, east of town, killed a large wolf on East Fork of Rock Creek, Tuesday of last week. It tipped the scale at 68 pounds. A number of wolves are reported in that section of the county.

Miss Elsie Ayre, teacher in the Cassville high school, left Tuesday to spend the holidays at Neosho, and other points.

Judge Carr McNatt of Aurora, held a special term of circuit court here Monday in the case of State vs. F. A. Whitlock, charged with issuing checks on a bank at Lockwood in which he held no funds and passing hem on Monett business men. He entered a plea of guilty to the charge and was given a two years sentence in the penitentiary. Whitlock was given some time ago a penitentiary sentence in Bates County on a charge of forgery and breaking out of jail, but he was paroled by Governor Major before his sentence was served. Deputy Sheriff Hugh Brixey took the prisoner to Jefferson City Tuesday evening.

E. G. Bugg and wife left Monday evening for an extended stay at Fredonia, Ky.

Purdy News: Mr. Peck and family of Flat Creek visited his sister, Mrs. Ora McNally, during the holidays.

Washburn News: The Union Sunday School elected new officers last Sunday as follows: J. S. Amphlett, superintendent; Mrs. J. A. Pease, assistant supt.; Fay Black Secretary; Munta Kemp, treasure and librarian; Estella Pease and Beulah Fain, organist. The school extended a vote of thanks to the retiring officers of their efficient work during the past year.

Butterfield News: Fred Williamson has put in a stock of goods at Ed Davis' restaurant.

Butterfield News: The little infant babe of Mr. and Mrs. M. E. Gentry died Sunday morning. Its little body was laid to rest in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery Sunday.

Exeter News: Floyd Autry has relived Earl Smithson as intermediate teacher of the Exeter school as Mr. Smithson will take up his duties as postmaster by the first of the years.

Exeter News: Will Elsey, who has been visiting his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Elsey returned to his home in Tulsa, Okla., Monday.

Exeter News: Mrs. Elizabeth Cullup has returned home from Jennings, Okla., where she has been visiting her sister the past summer and fall.

Seligman News: Miss Addie Frost, a prominent school teacher of Kansas, is visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Frost.

Mt Pisgah News: Mrs. Emma Stebler who is teaching school at Stotts City is spending the holidays with her parents.

James Sapp and J. A. Mattingly northwest of Exeter were in Cassville Saturday. Mr. Sapp is teaching the Independence school west of Exeter. He reported the Christmas tree and exercises held there Thursday evening one of the best ever had there and that everything was nice and orderly.

E. A. Marbut, east of town, while in Cassville last week, stated he some time back received word from his son, Homer, who is in the service of the U.S. Navy, stating four year enlistment would end next April and that he expected to be home soon after his discharge. He is now located on the Pacific near Mexico.

Sheriff G. M. Brixey went to McDonald township Saturday and placed under arrest Chas. Kendrell charged with poisoning horses and cattle belonging to Elijah Hilton. He gave bond for his preliminary hearing before Justice of the Peace, H. P. Sons, on Friday, Jan 9th.

Clyde Badgett was accidentally shot with a shotgun by his father, James Padgett, while hunting on Christmas day near their home north of town. The shot took effect just above the ankle of the left leg. Local physicians were called and dressed the wound. At lest report he was doing nicely.

A petition for injunction was filed in circuit court Wednesday by Dr. Wm. West of Monett through his attorney, H. A. Gardner, against Georgia Lewis, admrx in the estate of C. Lewis, dec'd, et al. The petition cites that Dr. West who operates a hospital in Monett is being damaged in the professional work by his patients being disturbed, annoyed and otherwise molested by the defendants operating near his hospital a player piano. A temporary injunction was granted in the probate court by Judge Landis. The case is docketed for the March term of circuit court.
