Washburn News: John Harold Trowbridge, 23 years of age, was found dead in his bed Thursday about one o'clock p.m. in Springfield. Death was caused asphyxiation. The remains were brought here Saturday, accompanied by his mother. Harold was the youngest son of Mrs. Celia Trowbridge. He leaves a mother, one brother, Roy, of Miami, Tex., and one sister, Mrs. Geo. Cox of Pasadena, Cal., to mourn their loss. His funeral was conducted Monday at the Union Church by Rev. J. E. Harney of Exeter. The beautiful floral emblems spoke of the high esteem in which he was held by his many friends. Harold was a model young man and was loved by all who knew him. This sudden death is a shock to his many friends, as he was here only a few days ago. He was a regular attendant of church and Sunday School. We extend our deepest sympathy to the mother, brother, and sister, in this dark hour. We hope to meet Harold in the great beyond where sin and sorrow enter not. He was buried by his father at Washburn Prairie who proceeded him almost three years ago.

Samuel Black Dead: Samuel Black, one of the promising young men of Barry County died in Clark County, Okla., Oct 23, 1914, and was buried at Depu, Oklahoma, Oct 24.

Samuel was the son of W. H. and Maranda Black and was reared to manhood in the wet part of the county. At the age of fourteen, he became a member of the New Hope Baptist Church after which his greatest ambition was to be a true Christian. He was married to Bessie Goodman who died in the Stateof California about a year ago. Only a few weeks ago he was married to a Miss Anna Lee of Depu, Okla. He leaves this young wife, father and mother, four brothers, two sisters and a host of friends to mourn their loss.

One of the saddest things in connection with the death of this young man is the fact that the oldest daughter of his brother, Jim, died only one day later and they were both buried at the same time. Carrie was eighteen years old. She confessed faith in Christ on her death bed. Jim Black, her father, is well known in Barry County.
