R.R. Fisher and son, Clarence, returned home Friday, from a few weeks visit to Jackson County, in the southern part of Illinois, the parental home of Mr. Fisher. He reports an enjoyable visit with relatives and old acquaintances, which brought back familiar associations of earlier days. He also states crops in Southwest Missouri look more favorable than in that section of Illinois. ***
Pickney Lee, of Exeter, died Tuesday of heart trouble, age 73 years. He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Thomas Elsey. Burial was made Wednesday at the Exeter Cemetery. ***
Rev. H. S. Kline and Mrs. Amanda Kennedy of Edwardsville, Ill., were married Wednesday, June 17, at Mr. Kline's home at Cato. Rev. G. G. Cottrell performed the ceremony. Following their marriage a wedding dinner was given in their honor by a number of Mr. Kline's neighbors and an enjoyable time is reported. ***
New Salem News: Mrs. Amanda Brewer died at her home on Roaring River, Saturday, June 20th. The remains were laid to rest at this place, Sunday, June 21st to await theresurrection morn. To the bereaved ones we extend our heartfelt sympathy. ***
Purdy News: Grandma Pitts who has been quite an invalid since falling and fracturing her hip last winter took suddenly worse about a week ago and died Friday evening of last week at her home in Purdy. Grandma was 67 years of age and had raised quite a family. The children, three boys and two girls, were at her bedside the last week and comforted her all they could. She was laid to rest in the Arnhart Cemetery Saturday evening after funeral services conducted by Rev. Ed Brown. Grandpa Pitts and the children have our sympathy. |
