Cassville Republican, Thursday, Weekly Paper, July 7, 1892
Eagle Rock News: The celebration at this place was a success. The crowd began to gather at an early hour and by 10 o'clock the grounds were crowded with people. At 10:30 there was a balloon ascension which was a curiosity to the little folks. At 11 o'clock the crowd was called together by singing by the choir. The Declaration of Independence was read by F. M. Bare in his usual pleasant style. The principal oration of the day was made by L. Beasley who caused the eagle to scream and the flag to wave in the usual manner. This was followed by Tennessee Dunlap with a few remarks on the grievances of the American people. But the crowning event was the arrival at a later hour, after the committee had concluded he was not coming, of Mr. H. Johnson of Oklahoma who delivered his oration in fine style to the amusement of the best crowd of the day. The fire works at night were a beautiful sight and a delight to the children. Everything passed off quietly and taken all in all, there never was a finer celebration, or a more patriotic people than the people of Eagle Rock, Roaring River township and vicinity.

Married, Friday, July 1st, 1892, William A. Claycomb and Miss Mollie Talbert, Rev. E. W. McCracken officiating. Stealing away at 4 O'clock in the morning the happy couple would have taken the town by surprise had it not been fully informed before hand. After spending a a few days with the bride's sister, Mrs. Flora Ham at Verona, they returned Sunday and will make this their future home.
