Mr. Kirk was 41 years, 5 months, and 9 days old. He was born near Mano, Mo., July 14, 1872 and spent the grater part of his early life in this vicitny. He was united in marriage some eleven years ago to Miss Florence Livingston. This union was blest with one child, Hazel. Besides the devoted wife and daughter he leaves a step-mother, Mrs. Mary Thompson of Washburn to mourn his untimely death. His father, mother and two brothers having proceeded him to that better world.

Having been converted when only a boy, at the old Union church in this city, he lived an upright life which won him a host of friends wherever he went.

He passed peacefully away as one who falls asleep and awoke in that better land with the Master that he loved and trusted. We can only remind the sorrowing ones that he is not dead - he is only asleep, and though he has gone his record has been made and will remain as a listing treasure. His life was gentle but like the still waters it was deep. His life, his influence and pure aspirations are monuments that will keep him at remembrance in the hearts of kindred and friends and will long linger as a fragrant memory among these whom his presence brighten and which death has now darkened. Though he can not return to us we can go to him. A Friend.
