Mrs. Charity Sooter Dead:

Mrs. Charity Sooter, wife of the late M. V. Sooter, died at the home of her nephew, Grant Stubblefield, southeast of town, Friday afternoon, October 10, of complication of diseases, age 63 years, 5 months and 6 days.

Mrs. Sooter's health had been failing for several months. Last April she was stricken with paralysis from which she never fully recovered until July when her illness became critical. In August she suffered another stoke of paralysis which hastened the effects of her ailments until her life was ushered in to the great beyond.

Mrs. Sooter was a daughter of William Earl, [Earle] deceased and was born in Pike County, Illinois, May 4, 1850. When a small girl her parents moved to Texas and afterwards came to Barry County in 1866. In 1870 she was married to Elias Owens. To them was born one child, Charley Owens who lives at Sylvia, Kan. Some years later she was left a widow and lived with her father until his death. About 14 years ago she was married to M. V. Sooter who died in December 1912. She was a sister of Mrs. Eliz Stubblefield, George Earle and Charles Earle, all well known in this county.

Mrs. Sooter professed faith in Christ in 1902 and joined the Mt. Sinai Baptist Church in which she remained a faithful member until death. She was an excellent citizen and loved by all who made her acquaintance. The funeral service conducted by Rev. J. T. Brattin was held at the Horner Baptist Church Sunday morning and her body laid to rest in the Stubblefield family Cemetery about three miles south of town.
