Captured

T. Bales, who was wanted by Sheriff Walden of Carroll County, Ark., for committing assault on a 12 year old girl at Beaver, Ark., on Tuesday, May 13, of last week, was captured here Thursday morning by Sheriff Brixey. News of Bale's crimes and his description was sent to Sheriff Brixey the first of the week. Bales was detected and arrested here early Thursday morning while on the train ready to leave town. Constable Oscar Hamblin of Beaver came to Cassville Thursday afternoon and took Bales to Berryville where he will be held until trial. The little girl is a daughter of Judge Peters of Pittsburg, Kan., and attorney on the Kansas City Southern Railroad. He and his family recently arrived at Beaver to spend the summer and Bales had been a frequent visitor at their home selling vegetables. On the day of the assault Bales was at Peter's home and persuaded the little girl to take a horseback ride. Without a thought of fear the child consented and Bales at once headed to the woods where the attempted outrage was made and would no doubt have been successful had some children not appeared on the scene. Bales is a man abut 55 years of age and had lived near Beaver on a farm for several years.
