| McDowell News: J. C. Hemphill is back from his father's at Golden and says his sister Cordie is no better. Washburn News: John Anderson, Sr., loaded his household goods and pulled up to Dent Montgomery's to stay over night, and then John took up a location for his future home. Washburn News: Mr. R. D. Hickox, father of Oscar Hickox, was ninety-one years of age, Tuesday, Aug. 1, that being his birthday. The old man can do a fair day's work yet, for one of his age. Seligman News: Wednesday James George was here to prosecute Jas. Anderson for defacing the schoolhouse. Anderson got sixty days in jail. Oak Ridge News: Married at the residence of the bride's sister, Mrs. Andrew Johnson, July 30, John Stoffie and Miss Lizzie Hutchens. They departed that evening for their home in Lawrence County. Bethel News: The infant child of Mr. and Mrs. Osborne died Friday and was buried in the Bethel Cemetery, Saturday. Butterfield News: Ab Ferguson of Aurora, formerly of Butterfield, is talking of moving back to our village. Eagle Rock News: Died, Tuesday, morning, Albert, the little son of Uncle Peter Shaffer, age about 8 yeas. Interment at the Easley Cemetery. Eagle Rock News: Friday Dock Skelton closed a deal with Alonzo Frost, for the latter's farm, known as the old Munsey farm, on Roaring River. Consideration $808. Dock is not the richest man on Roaring River. Butterfield News: Thomas Ferguson had a choice cow killed by the train. Forest Grove News: William R. | Washburn News: Born to Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Traylor, a son. Another News: The infant child of Mrs. Allen died Thursday and interred in the Bethel Cemetery Friday. Eagle Rock News: Leroy Whittington of Eureka Springs was attending church at this place Sunday and Sunday night. Roy says he is feeling better and has less than ever had before in his life. Eagle Rock News: Died, Thursday, at one o'clock, Mrs. Hall, wife of Elisha Hall. Remains were interred Friday at the Easley Cemetery. Funeral service conduced by Elder Ed Chappell. The bereaved family have our warmest sympathies. Three weeks ago a daughter of the family died and a short time before this another daughter was sent to the insane asylum who knows nothing of the death of her mother and sister. Eagle Rock News: Charley Curry is at work preparing to build a new dwelling, which will add greatly to the beauty of his farm. Eagle Rock News: Friday, Little John Whittington went to Eureka Springs and had a bug extracted from his throat or head which he claimed ran in his ear nine years ago while in Texas. During all this time John has suffered untold agonies and many times related this circumstance to his friends only to their disbelief and apprehension. Although John was all the while been firm in his statement and many times consulted the best medical and surgical advice, and told that it was impossible of such a thing to be, he has the bug in a small vial for anybody to see. | Eagle Rock News: Monday, Ford Whittington and wife left for Joplin. Eagle Rock News: Died Sunday morning at the Dr. C. C. Kelley's at eight o'clock, Mrs. Dumas, wife of J. J. Dumas of Ossams, I. T. of an abscess of lungs. She was a sister of Mrs. Kelley. Internment Tuesday at the Munsey graveyard. Washburn News: Robt Windes' little two-year-old boy fell of a chair against the bureau and cut quite a gash in his head. The doctor dressed the scalp by sticking it together with court plaster. Washburn News: Jasper McCary has employment in Aurora for the time being and has gone to it. New Site News: Miss Fannie Carlin, who has had the fever, is reported better. New Site News: Elmer Browning has sold his farm and is going to Joplin to work in the mines. Monett News Items: Earnest, son of Judge W. R. Browning, whose arm was broken by their carriage running over it is getting along nicely so far and will soon be able to use his arm again. Oak Ridge News Items: Dr. A. F. Hunter of Raub, Ind., who had been visiting his brother-in-law, W. P. Browne, returned home yesterday, taking with him his nephews, Fred and Charles Browne. Washburn Prairie News: Mrs. Marshall of Marionville is visiting her father, S. M. Lough. Eagle Rock News: Thursday, Ara, son of Bill Burris, left home to go to Marion Goodings to see about getting a cane mill to make molasses. On his way there, or back, he got hurt and was found late in the evening by Jake Burris. The boy was almost lifeless and could not tell how he was hurt but died a few moments later after his father and mother were summoned. Investigation proved that he had climbed a hickory tree and a limb had broken with him letting him fall a distance of about 40 feet striking on a solid rock. He was interred Friday evening at the Munsey Cemetery. Washburn News: John L. Anderson, who left here a few months ago for Oklahoma, has brought his wife back in a critical condition. She has not been expected to recover but was thought to take a change for the better Monday. He and two or three of his children are chilling. They are stopping at Dent Montgomery's his brother-in-law. |

| Eagle Rock News: Mrs. Julie Cooper of Munsey was visiting at Houston Maloney's Monday. Kings Prairie News: Born to Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Eagle, a big girl. Jake looks father pale and says he don't know where he can farm successfully. Horner News: Miss Angie Farwell, who has a severe spell of typhoid fever, made her first visit last week among friends in our immediate neighborhood, after about sixty days' stay at home. It is hoped that she will soon be in vigorous health again. Horner News: Died Sept. 21, John Gipson, of typhoid fever. Mr. Gipson's home was at Spring Hill, Kan. He was a son-in-law of Preston Matlock. He, with his family came to visit, Mrs. Gipson's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Preston Matlock, and soon after was taken fatally ill. Exeter News: Mr. Leache's son, who has been serving his time in the Philippine Islands, came home Sunday morning. Washburn News: Born to Mr. Cora Johnson, nee Moore a fine son. | Obituary: Died, Saturday, Oct. 14, at 8:05, am. of typhoid fever. Jacob Bower of Lohmarsburg, aged fifty seven years and eleven months and eleven days. Jacob Bower was born near Knoxville, Tenn. His mother dying at the age of three months and his father three months later, he was raised by a brother. At this age of sixteen he went to Indiana and upon the breaking out of the war enlisted in Co. E. 19 Ind. Inf. and served three years and three months. In 1865 he married Louisa Talbert, who with their son, J. M. survives him. In 1870 they went to Northeastern Missouri but returned to Indiana. In 1878 they came to Cassville, but returned to Indiana eighteen months later. In 1881 they moved to Mineral Springs and have resided in this county since, in Cassville, Purdy, and Lohmarsburg, the scene of his death. By trade Mr. Bower was a carpenter but had not followed it in recent years. The remains were interred in the Cassville cemetery, Sunday, after a short service conducted by Rev. J. W. Ennes. Ash News: Mrs. George Easley is quite low and not expected to live. B.A. Dent is quite sick but will get well. Exeter News: The little son of Chas. New Site News: Charley Rumbaugh says of all the states in the union he thinks Kansas is the best, for he went there and stayed about a week and brought home a wife whose former name was Miss Eva Mayfield. Pleasant Home News: A. J. Eden and family were visiting friends and relatives at Purdy and Pioneer, also his sister at Exeter last week. Aix News: All who attended the social at Charlie Bradford's Friday night, report an excellent time. Mineral Spring News: Mrs. Sarah McKinley has moved in to Aurora. She is Grandma Hill's daughter. McDowell News: Mrs. Sanders of Galena, Kan., was visiting A. Long's family the first of the week. Leann News: Frank Hilton who has resided in the vicinity of Leann for years, is moving to Aurora. Washburn News: Arch Roller and family took a drive down Flat Creek to visit Jonathan Brooks their son-in law, the latter part of last week. Eagle Rock News: Died, Wednesday, Mrs. Charles Easley. Her remains were interred Thursday at the Easley Cemetery. The young couple had been married but a little over twelve months and one week previous to her death had laid to rest their little babe, which lived but a few hours. Eagle Rock News: Mrs. Joe Hall and children and Grandma Maloney, who have been sick for some time, are said to be no better. Eagle Rock News: Little John Whittington has been confined to his room for the past few days, from the effects of a nail running through his foot. Stony Point: J. A. Arnold and family have postponed their trip to Texas and are moving his building out of the valley and building on the Cassville and Exeter road near E. W. McCracken's. Combs News: Mrs. Jonathan Reed had quite a runaway, Friday. The mare, while playing got one foot over the shaft and became scared, and ran away, tore up the buggy and threw Mrs. Reed out. She was badly hurt and is not able to be up yet. Berswick News: Mrs. Annie Hisaw and sister, Miss Bessie Cummins, returned last week from their visit to Illinois. Obituary: Died at her home in Corsicana, Tuesday morning Oct. 17, 1899, Alta, wife of Dr. W. T. Bailey, age 29 years from inflammation of the stomach and heart trouble. She was the second daughter of J. C. Jeffries. Purdy News: A message has been received reporting the death of a former citizen, Geo. Long, now of Sawyer, Kansas. He was a son of F. H. Long of near Purdy, a highly respected citizen, and a member of the I. O. O. F. Lodge of Purdy. Purdy News: Will Wormington who has been quite a while with fever, is reported improving.
