Geo. Reed of near Seligman while in Cassville, one day last week, presented to this office two copies of the Valley Press, the former title of the Cassville Republican, bearing the dates of Oct 18, Nov 1, 1878. They contain many reminiscences of interest. Mr. Reed has been a reader of the REPUBLICAN since its earliest history and is very familiar with the industrial growth of our county.

Guy Bayless and Miss Paul, both of Claremore, Okla., were married at Kansas City on November 16, at the home of Mrs. Pharis Martin. Immediately after their marriage they departed on their honeymoon trip to Florida. Mr. Bayless has many friends and relatives in Barry County who wish him a happy and prosperous life.

An unknown man was killed Wednesday of last week near Seligman by a Frisco freight train. No means of identification could be found on the body. He is reported to have been in Seligman only a short time and seemed to be afflicted with epilepsy. Later, information was found given his home near Harrison, Arkansas.

Charles F. Rowe, editor of the Stella record, was married November 16, to Miss Ora Maness of Neosho, who is the daughter of Rev. D. C. Maness, a very prominent minister of that city.

Mrs. Mary Farmer, who spent the summer visiting her daughter, Mrs. Effie Freeze, at Cassville, returned to her home, with another daughter, Mrs. Sherman Brown, here, Monday. Pineville Democrat

J. W. McCarter, came in Wednesday of last week from Ennis, Kan., to spend a few months with his son, J. R. McCarter.

Washburn News: Mrs. Woods B. Thompson of Hiawatha, Kan., and little neice [niece], Pauline Sage, of Chanute, Kan., came Wednesday to spend thanksgiving with their mother and sister, Mrs. Augusta and Nona Senter.

W. H. Brown, north of town, informed us Tuesday that Wesley Holmes, formerly of Corsicana, who has been living in Eastern Oklahoma for the past nine years, committed suicide Saturday evening by cutting his throat with some sharp instrument. He was a son of he late Martin Haines of this county and leaves a wife and nine children. He was a nephew of Mr. Brown who states Mr. Haines had been in poor health for some months from which case his death was probably due.

Mrs. Eva Johnson, a highly and respected citizen, of Pierce City died at her home Monday evening after an illness of only a week. Her death was due to pleurisy following an attack of pneumonia, deceased was about 76 years of age and had lived in Pierce City for a number of years. She was a sister of Michael and Harry Horine of this city and Hiram Horine of near Monett. She is survived by four children. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at the home in charge of Rev. W. A. Todd of Monett. For many years she had been a member of the Baptist Church and had lived a consistent Christian life. Mr. and Mrs. Michael Horine and Mr. and Mrs. Harry Horine attended the funeral services.

John Zilliox, Jr., and Miss Bertha Moore both residing east of Cassville, were quietly married Sunday afternoon at the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. F. S. Moore. Rev. J. W. Ennes was the officiating minister Mr. Zilliox is a son of J. R. W. Zilliox and is an energetic young farmer. The Bride is a young lady of many accomplishments and is popular among her associates.
