Mrs. Wm. Holliday Dead: Mrs. Ruey Holliday, wife of Col. Wm. Holliday, commander of the reunion, died suddenly at the home of her daughter, in Joplin, at 11 a.m. Monday.

Mrs. Holliday has not been in good health for some time but seemed to be as well as usual and had been visiting her daughter at Joplin for the past few weeks. Col. Holliday was in Cassville Monday ready to take charge of he reunion. The message that his wife had died suddenly came as a great shuck to him.

The remains were brought home Tuesday and the body was laid to rest in the Mineral Springs cemetery. Rev. F. M. Smallwood conducted the funeral.

Col. Holiday and his family have the sympathy of other numerous friends and acquaintances in their sad hour of bereavement.

[Abstract] The Big Annual Reunion:


The thirty-second annual reunion of old soldiers and Old Settlers began Tuesday with a larger crowd than usual for the first day. All day Monday people from a distance were coming on the grounds and by evening there looked as though an army had pitched its camp along the banks of Flat Creek.At 10:30, L. Beasley, commander of the reunion, formally opened the speaking with a short address. Followed was May S. J. Salyer, cashier of the Barry County Bank who talked about the future progress of the county. In the afternoon E. A. Frost made the response and he talked about the progress of Barry County. Judge J. J. Gideon of Springfield spoke to the old soldiers next. Dr. L. G. Reeser, President of Marionville College closed the afternoon and the talked about education and how it related to the time. Jim Gaskins, 86 years old, was given the prize as the oldest man present and C. W. Higganbotham, 83, was given second prize.

Miller - Montgomery: Mr. Mead S. Miller of near Temple, Texas, and Miss Clara Montgomery of near Washburn were married at Exeter Tuesday afternoon by Rev. St. Clair of the Methodist Church.

Mr. Miller is a cousin of Dr. M. C. Sparkman of Cassville and is a successful business man, being he owner and manager of a large cotton plantation. Miss Montgomery has lived in Barry County all her life. She is a member of an old and highly respected family and has many relatives and friends here. The happy couple will leave soon for their southern home. The REPUBLICAN join with their many friends in congratulations.

Oak Ridge News: We are sorry to chronicle the death of Rev. George Brand, a former resident of the community at his home in Arkansas, August 15. Rev. Brand was a Christian minister and always had an active influence among those who came in contact with his influence. He left a wife and four small children to mourn his death.

Adam Bowman of Jacket, Mo., and Miss Hattie Foster of Seligman were quietly married Monday at the home of J. C. Fawver in Seligman. T. P. Hulsey performed the ceremony. Both the bride and groom enjoyed the respect and friendship of a host of friends.
