H. Thomas received a letter Friday from Mrs. W. F. Galloway at Dennison, Tex., stating that she was in a wreck Wednesday and received injuries that might develop to be permanent. Mrs. Galloway was on her way home to Houston from Cassville where she had been visiting relatives and friend for several days.

T. F. Montgomery, E. B. Holman, and P. B. O'Dwyer, members of the county court, accompanied by S. J. Salyer and Dave Dingler returned Friday from a tour to Mt. Vernon, Springfield, Carthage, and Columbus, Kan., where they made a study of public buildings in order to secure plans for the erection of the Barry County Court house. They report an interesting trip.

Mt. Grove News: Mrs. Sarah Fly of near Jenkins is visiting her sister-in-law, Mrs. G. W. Marbut, this week.

Gunter News: Mrs. Francis Crane died at her home Aug 4, 1912, age 43 years, 9 months and a few days. She leaves a living husband and six children to mourn her death. The children are Alva, Mary, Oliver, Lyman, Ernest, and Ariel. Mrs. Crane was loved and highly respected by all who knew her. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Kelly and her body was laid to rest in the New Church Cemetery amidst a host of weeping friends and relatives. May God comfort the bereaved ones.

Oak Ridge News: Collie Hankins while at Oak Ridge at meeting Monday night was taken with something like heart failure and for a couple of hours was in a serous condition. He seemed to be all right next morning.

David Calton, an old Barry County citizen of Pleasant Ridge township was a pleasant caller at the REPUBLICAN office Wednesday of last week. Mr. Calton has been a reader of the Republican for the past forty years. He says it has become a close companion in his home. He knows much about the pioneer life and recent history of Barry County and is one of our county's highly respected citizens.

Carlin - Russell: Marshall Carlin of near Monett and Mrs. Margaret Russell of near Eagle Rock were married Tuesday at the home of Rev. J. T. Brattin in Cassville. The wedding was a complete surprise even to the near relatives.

This marriage doubly unites two of Barry County's old and highly esteemed families, families that have been closely related by bonds of friendship and marriage, a son of Mr. Carlin's having married a daughter of Mrs. Russell's several years ago.

Though Mr. Carlin has reached the age of 73 and Mrs. Russell that of 64, they are both still hale and active. Mr. Carlin being actively engaged in farming and stock raising and is one of the most prosperous farmers of the county.

The REPUBLICAN joins with their numerous friends in congratulations.

New Site News: The death angle has again visited our neighborhood claiming for its visitor Mrs. Nancy Holmes, wife of R. J. Holmes, Mrs. Holmes had been ill for several months being confined to her house most of the time since November and to her bed for six weeks. She suffered from cancer of the liver. Every thing was done that loving hands could do and the best medical skill could suggest but death's hand could not be stayed and at 2:30 a.m. Wednesday, August 1, 1912,the weary spirit took its flight to her dear savior who she loved and worshiped. Nancy Browning was born in Van Buren County, Arkansas, Sept 10, 1851. She came to Barry County at the age of 10 years and has lived here ever since. She was married R. J. Holmes Oct 19, 1871. To this union was born four children, three sons and one daughter. The sons are living and were at her bedside during her sickness and death. Mrs. Homes was a member of the New Site Baptist Church. Her Christian influence will always have a lasting influence upon those who learned to know her. The funeral services were conducted at the residence by Rev. Luther Carlin, Friday at 2 o'clock p.m. after which the remains were laid to rest in the New Site Cemetery.
