Octogenarian Birthday: Eighty years age on the date of Aug 30, 1832, there was born into this world a child who was christened by the name of Galer Bennett. On the eightieth birthday of Mr. Bennett, four generations of which he is the head, with many friends and relatives meet at his home in Purdy to celebrate the occasion. At the noon hour a bountiful dinner was spread and the occasion was pleasantly enjoyed.

Of the immediate family, 6 children, 16 grand-children and 11 great-great children were present.

They are: D. G. Bennett, Dr. and Mrs. Freeland, W. B. Counts and family, Mrs. A. V. Stephenson and son Bud Campbell of Purdy; Mrs. A. D. Campbell of Fairview; Mr. and Mrs. L. Looney and son of Richey; Doras Bennett, Syble Bennett and Grant Bennett and family of Monett; Mrs. O. F. Tate and children, R. T. Saulsbury and daughter, Alice, Mr. and Mrs. R. T. Bennett, Mr. and Mrs. J. F. Watson and Perry Carmichael of Pierce City; Mrs. S. L. Boyd and daughters of Neosho; Mrs. Martha Wilson of Carthage and Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Carney of Galena, Kansas.

Sunnyside News: Mrs. John Johnson and Miss Grace Tuck were married at Bentonville, Ark., Thursday. Mr. Johnson is an excellent farmer. The bride is a daughter of W. T. Tuck who recently moved from this country to Grove, Okla. Their many friends are congregating them with a bright and prosperous future.

At the meeting of the Democratic County committee of Cassville, Saturday, R. H. Elam of Eagle [Rock] was nominated as a candidate for Judge of the Eastern District and E. Marlow of Flat Creek Township as a candidate for Public Administer.

Frank Watkins and Jim Turner of Monett were released from the county jail Friday after serving 30 days sentence for disturbing the peace of parties at Monett.

Rufus DePriest of Exeter and Jack Carney of near Cato were released from the county jail, Thursday, after serving a 15 days sentence for gambling at the Cassville reunion.

Albert George, living 5 1/2 miles southeast of town will hold a public sale Tuesday, Sept 17. Mr. George and family will leave soon for Pike County, Illinois, to reside indefinitely.

M. H. Arbuckle and wife departed Tuesday morning by the way of Archie, Cass County, for their home in Hendrix County, Ind., after a few days visit at the home of Mr. Arbuckle's' brother W. M. Arbuckle, and wife, south of town.

Washburn Prairie News: Friday, Sept 6, 1912, 7 p.m., the death angel again entered the home of Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Hopkins and taken from them the last one of their twins, little Norris Munford, aged 3 months and 23 days. He was sick only 24 hours with indigestion which time he suffered very much. Funeral services were conducted Saturday at eleven o'clock by Rev. Melvin Coones after which the little body was laid to rest in the Washburn Prairie Cemetery. The sorrowing father and mother have the deep sympathy of the community.

After a lingering illness of many months, Mrs. Lou Elrod, wife of James Elrod, died Tuesday afternoon, Sept 3, at her home two miles southeast of Washburn. Death was due to complication of diseases. She was reared to womanhood, south of town in the Pasley neighborhood. She was the daughter of the late A. M. James and has lived in the county a good share of her life. She is survived by a husband and seven children. Rev. Will Ireland conducted the funeral services a the Washburn Prairie Church, Wednesday afternoon of last week. She was highly respected citizen and possession of a noble Christian character. Chinquapin Hill: Mrs. Debbie Marks of Chicago is visiting in and about Cassville. She and her husband are working in the interest of the Mark Art Studio of Chicago. Mrs. Marks is a neice [niece] of E. A. Frost and grand daughter of the late D. P. Morris.

Pleasant Ridge News: Bessie McClellan and Edgar Fields were married Sunday morning at ten o'clock at the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. John McClellan. John Pennell performed the ceremony. We extend our heartiest congregations.

Washburn Prairie News: Tuesday, Sept 3, 1912, at 6:30 p. m., Mrs. Lou Elrod was called from this life to the great beyond, aged 49 years old and 11 months. She was a daughter of the late A. M. James and wife and was born in Tennessee in 1862. Moved to this country with her parents when a child. She was married to James Elrod in 1882 to this union was born 7 children, 2 died when small. She was converted at the age of 20 and joined the Missionary Baptist Church. Funeral services were conducted Wednesday evening at 2 o'clock by Rev. Will Ireland after which the body was tenderly laid to rest in the Washburn Prairie Cemetery. The grief stricken husband and children have the heartfelt sympathy of their many friends. [Research Note: Lou was Alexander McGee James and his wife Mary Jane Wright and she was born in Blount Co., TN.]
