New Salem: Mrs. D. G. Leonard spent the later part of last week with her sister, Mrs. Will Sparr near Exeter.

Pioneer News: W. J. Clark of Sapulpa, Okla., spent Xmas with his sister, Mrs. H. Harper.

Wheaton News: Geo. Burger, our livery man went to Tiff City, Friday to the bedside of his sister's little child who is not expected to live.

Oak Ridge News: Wm. Forkner is building a new house on the land that he purchased from Frank Dilbeck.

Shell Knob News: Last Friday morning, about 9 o'clock Mida Pray died at her sister's.[Click here to read]

Washburn News: The protracted meeting conducted by Revs. C. M. Smith and Crawford closed Friday night.

Washburn News: Tom Williams of this place and Miss Nora Lance of Gravette, Ark., were married Sunday, Dec 24th, at Cassville by Esq. Plattenburg.

Washburn News: Mrs. Mary McDowell and granddaughter, Dell Murphy, returned to town Monday near Monett Friday after spending the holidays with her parents, J. M. Stark and wife.

Washburn News: J. R. Miller and Miss Ada Call were married in Lamar, Colo., recently. We wish them many years of happiness.

Pleasanton News: Silas and Will Care killed a big wolf last week near the old Byron Carr farm on James River. They took the skin off and are to get a good price for it.

Mayflower News: Tom Vanzandt bought some land of J. T. Vanzandt and has built him a new house and moved into it about three weeks ago. [Search also for Van Zandt when looking for this family.]

Born to Mr. and Mrs. R. A. Anderson, Dec 28, a son.

Wilson Lane of near Purdy was in Cassville Monday attending the Farmers Institute and looking after business at the county seat.

Claud Bayless left Sunday evening for Fairview after a week's visit with his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. John A. Bayless, and other relatives northwest of town.

Grove Ledgerwood was up from Shell Knob Friday and Saturday. Grove has just recently recovered from a spell of the fever.

Clark Moore living south of town while making ties severely cut one of his legs just below the knee. At last report he was getting along all right. He is a son-in-law of Jack Johnson.

Chas. Vaughn of Monett was in Cassville Saturday transacting business and made this office a pleasant call. Mr. Vaughan says that he can barley wait for the paper to come each week as in it he finds all the news.

Born to Mr. and Mrs. A. L. Brown, Dec. 28, a son.

Born to Mr. and Mrs. C. D. Higginbotham, Dec. 30, a ten pound daughter.

William Vanhook returned Wednesday to William Jewell College at Liberty.

Will Robyler of Wayne has returned from Indiana where he has been visiting his brother, Frank, and other relatives in that state.

Garland Dummit of Kings Prairie who is teaching in Oklahoma spent the holidays with his parents Mr. and Mrs. F. R. Dummit and other relatives in this county and at Fairview.

Guy Reese who has been in business at Joplin has sold out and is visiting his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Grant Reese, on Washburn Prairie, and his brother, J. C. Ault in this city.

Seligman News: We are sorry to learn of the death of Wm. Hamilton. He was a good citizen.

Seligman News: Ira Tate, who was hurt by being thrown out of a buggy about two weeks ago, is well again.

Ceral Faulk of Monett, a boy only 11 years old was arrested last week on a charge of grand larceny, and brought to Cassville. Bond was made for his appearance at the March term of Circuit court.

John D. Skelton, a prominent Lawrence County farmer and stockman, died at his home about seven miles west of Mt Vernon last week.

Alva Stryker of Kansas has been visiting his parents near Eagle Rock. He returned home last week.

J. H. Hadlow of near Eagle Rock has returned from Havilland, Kan., where he was been for several months.

Geo. White retuned Saturday from Cedarvale, New Mex., where he was called by the death of his father, S. C. White.

Will Hutchens had one of the horse that drowned and the men made a narrow escape. [Click here to read]

Evard Mitchell received a message late Friday evening that Mrs. Mitchell's mother, Mrs. Asbury McCary of Fairview was very low and not expected to live. He went to Fairview Friday night.

Mrs. Thomas Mason of Afton, Okla., is visiting her sister, Mrs. J. C. Henry and her many friends in this city.

Good Citizen Claimed by Death: Noah Brattin, one of the Washburn farmers and esteemed citizens, died at his home 2 1/2 miles northeast of Washburn, Tuesday, Jan 9, of typhoid fever and a complication of other troubles, age 55 years, 19 months and 22 days. [Click here to read]

Hubert, the little 11 months old son, of Mr. and Mrs. Noah Barnett of Rocky Comfort, was burned to death at the Barnett home. [Click here to read]

After a lingering illness of many weeks and poor health for many years, Mrs. Anna McCary, wife of Asbury McCary, died at her home in Fairview, Tuesday morning January 9, 1912. [Click here to read]

Milwaukee News: J. B. Hopkins' little babe has been very sick. Dr. Rawhouser was called. It is better at this writing.

Clark News: Sarah Rogers was called to the bedside of her brother, Jack, at Granby, last week, who met with an accident in the mines by a tub of dirt falling back on him, hurting him very badly, but is is getting better, it is said.

Clio News: Mrs. U. S. Riddle is still very poorly has completely lost the use of one side.

Clio News: Aunt Cass Henson has been with her sister, Grandma Bailie who is very poorly.

Clio News: Weaver Bennett of Jenkins and Walter Riddle of Clio are at Springfield attending the business college.

Seligman News: A Mrs. Singleteen died of consumption Saturday morning. Her remains were taken to Garfield, Ark., for burial. She leaves a husband, mother, and three little children to mourn her loss. [May be Singleton?]

Seligman News: Miss Grace Brazelle spent a few days in town soliciting member in a Mutual Life Insurance Co.

Seligman News: Miss Zettie McClure was at home for a few days. She is helping her father in his store at Butterfield.

High Point News: W. P. Haworth went to Flat creek, Thursday and reports the death of Mr. White's little girl. [Hayworth]

High Point News: John Simson [Simpson] lifted a log Saturday and hurt his back. He is laid up but we hope is not serious.

Muncey News: R. H. Elam has the champion wolf dog. He started a wolf at John Bullington's near Beaver, Ark., Saturday morning some time before day and about 8 o'clock they were near the head of Roaring River. Come again we will try to kill it next time.

Muncey News: Claud Kisler closed a six months term of school here Wednesday.

Muncey News: Mrs. Andy Phillips died the 24 and was buried the 215 in the Huff Cemetery. The bereaved family have our sympathy.

Crescent News: Ernest Hankey's boy near Verona got killed last week while playing on some saw logs at the saw mill. A log rolling over him instantly. The bereaved parents have our sympathy.

Crescent News: Born to Thos. Thompson and wife, a fine boy, mother and babe doing well.

Gunter News: Grandma Whittington has returned home from a months visit at Purdy.

Gunter News: Mrs. Mary Church and husband are going to start to Canada some time in February. She was formerly Mary Williams.

Cedar Bluff News: We were sorrow [sorry] to hear of the death of Mrs. Henderson Lowery of Purdy. She leaves many relatives and friends in this community.

New Salem News: I guess the reason Mr. Ball can't find a dog that can keep up with his is his is so slow that they run off and leave him.

Hailey News: John Purdom has moved back to Cato from Wichita, Kan. He says old Barry County is good enough for him.

Butler Hollow News: The infant baby of Ed Vanderpool is reported better at this writing.

Butler Hollow News: Mrs. A. J. Phillips died Wednesday Jan 24 and was laid to rest Jan 25 at Corinth Cemetery. She leaves a husband, one son and four daughters and a host of relatives and fiends to mourn her death. The bereaved ones have the sympathy of our community.

Butler Hollow News: The tackey party at G. R. Tates Saturday night was quite a success. There were thirty eight present, the prizes were warded to Miss Nancy Roller and Mr. Nolls.

New Site News: Mrs. R. J. Homes is reported some better.

New Site News: Robert Teel is quite ill at his home with blood poison. A physician from St. Louis was called to council with Dr. Dusenbury of Monett.

New Site News: Mr. and Mrs. Marshall Carlin who have been quite sick are reported much better.

Eagle Rock News: John Bradford is our huckster now. Hope John will have success.

Eagle Rock News: R. H. Elam has the champion wolf hounds. He has had several chases since he brought the dogs home.

Eagle Rock News: Sam Skelton has a nice bunch of cattle wintering this winter.

Eagle Rock News: P. E. Smith and the Tucker boys are the champion fox hunters, have caught several this winter.

Fred Williamson and M. E. Gentry real estate men of Butterfield were in Cassville on business Tuesday.

Mr. and Mrs. John Huff of Elk City, Okla., are visiting old friends and relatives in the Pasley and Roaring River localities. They have been away about seven years.

Mr. Rentz of Iowa who bought the Phipps farm south of Cassville has arrived with his stock and household goods. His family will arrive soon.

Joe England of Mineral Springs is planning to sell out his stock of goods at Mineral and put in as stock of hardware in the Northcutt building at Exeter. Chester Collins will buy the England stock of goods at Mineral.

Letters addressed to the following parties are advertised at the Cassville post office. Estern Beck, Pauline Davis, Della Kingsbury, Harry Day.

The Washburn Review give an account of the recent wedding of Paul Thomas and Miss Mabel Hurst of Arco, Idaho. Mrs. Thomas is a daughter of Wynne Hurst a former citizen of this county. She has been teaching school in Idaho for the past few years.

Lone Elm News: John D. Long is having a new dwelling built. Sell Fare is doing the work.

Oak Ridge News: Mrs. Frank Elrod of Edgerton, Kan., came in Saturday in answer to a telegram telling her of the dangerous illness of her step-father, W. H. Cooper. He was dead when she got here.

Oak Ridge News: Mrs. John Johnson is at Reeds, MO, at the bedside of her son's wife, Elmer Dalton, who was dangerously ill but was better at last account

Howard Weekly, 19 year old son of Ol Weekly, fell upon an ax Wednesday of last week while working in the lumber and inflicted an ugly wound in the fleshy part of his left leg above the knee.

Clark News: We understand that Mrs. Higgs, widow of the late Alex Higgs, died last Friday night of cancer. The funeral took place at the New Hope church Sunday the 10th inst. and buried in the Higgs family graveyard on the old homestead.

Clark News: The friends of Miss Fannie Rhea are glad to learn that she is well and making fine progress in her studies at the Fulton School for the deaf.

Jenkins News: Keet Bailie owns the barber shop now.

Jenkins News: Oly Hudson, Berry Periman and Will Barnes left one day last week for Bijah Barnes' near Purdy. They expect to start in a few days for Kansas and Idaho.

Osa News: Mrs. Pearl Weathers has been visiting her mother, Mrs. Bassett and also her sisters, Mrs. Minnie Johnson and Mrs. Stella Hilton.

Hazel Dell News: Caddie Moore and little daughter, Hazel, have been visiting P. A. Boucher and family the past week.

Butterfield News: Aunt Margaret Higgs passed away at her home Friday night at 8 p.m. and her remains were laid to rest at the family cemetery Sunday.

Miss Babbie Marbut of this place and Robert Ethridge of near McDowell were married Sunday at the home of the bride. We wish them many years of happiness.

Enois Parks, a boy fifteen years old, was brought down from Monett Sunday and lodged in the county jail charge with burglary and larceny. He is charged with breaking into a building and stealing a moving picture machine. The machine was valued at $250. He failed to give bond.

Aged Mother Passes Away: Julia A. McKinney died March 4th, 1912, at her home on Kings Prairie. Grandma McKinney was born in West Virginia, Oct 15, 1832. She as married to J. H. McKinney, Feb 24, 1853. To this union were born fifteen children of which ten survives, Mrs. R. J. Miller, Holdenville, Okla.; Mrs. J. Cooley, Ardmore, Okla.; Mrs. John F. Henderson, Monett; Mrs. Morgan Pannell, Mineral Springs; Messrs. T. K. McKinney, Carthage; W. M. McKinney, Verona; N. L. McKinney, Sarcoxie; J. F. McKinney, Songer, Calif.; I. A. McKinney, Monett and 54 grandchildren.

She was converted at the age of 17 years and was a member of the Baptist Church for over fifty years. Grandma McKinney will be missed by all who knew her and the grieved children have the heart felt sympathy of the community.

The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Crouch and the remains were laid to rest in the Bethel Cemetery.

Will Bradley east of town has sold his farm to L. W. Shelton of Bavaria, Iowa and is planning to move to Illinois.

W. A. Cornell of near Eagle Rock has sold his farm to Geo. E. Skelton.
