Clovie Montgomery shot Clarence Polly in the calf of right leg, Saturday night, Feb 17, at a dance given at the residence of Mr. Nodines, a few miles northeast of Washburn. They had been fighting and were both were cut with knives. Deputy Sheriff Webb arrested Montgomery Sunday who gave bond for his appearance before Squire Durham at Washburn.

Jas. Williams, for stealing an overcoat and Will Eagle for stealing a bunch of his papers off of [sic] a Frisco Train were given 30 days in the county jail. Geo. Campbell for carrying concealed weapons, was given $60. fine and 3 months in jail by Police Judge Draper at Monett. Deputy Sheriff Joe Jackson bought them to jail.

Arthur McNatt of near Powell, McDonald County, closed a deal this week with Daniel Thomas for his roller mill at Jenkins. Mr. Thomas gets Mr. McNatt's farm near Powell. Mr. McNatt is a son of the later Gilbert McNatt and was raised near Corsicana.

Ezra Davis, son of Thomas B. Davis, residing 6 miles north of Cassville was dangerously hurt at a mine near Webb City on the 20th instr., by railing off a derrick and tramway which he was helping to construct. His injuries consisted of a broken right leg and broken jaw and several concussion from the fall of about 42 feet.

Mrs. J. R. Phillips of Maypearl, Texas, died Feb 22. She was a sister to Ell Alsup, who married Miss Reb Murphy of near this city.

Wallace Montgomery of near Joplin, a brother of Wash Montgomery who lives just south of the city, was brought here last night and taken to the home of his brother. He is badly crippled up as the result of a boulder falling down hillside on him. Monett Herald. Wallace formerly resided near Flat Creek post Office.

Mrs. John I. Duncan, died night of March 23rd, age 81, or 82 years. She was the mother of Mrs. John Briscoe of Exeter, and Hon. Thos. Cunningham of Joplin. She was the widow of the late Judge John I. Duncan, a well known and highly respected citizen of this county during life. The remains were laid to rest at Joplin. Mrs. Duncan spend a large part of the last winter with her daughter Mrs. John Briscoe at Exeter. Funeral services were conducted Wednesday at Empire Street Baptist Church after which the remains were laid to rest in Fairview Cemetery. The services were conducted by Rev. G. L. Shockley. The pall bears were selected from relatives of the deceased.

Mrs. Alex. Goostree, aged 75 years, widow of the late Alex. Goostree, died at the home of her son, Charles, in Liberty township, Sunday, March 25, 1906. She was the mother of William, John, James, Chas. Brattin of near Washburn, and Mrs. Thos. Tucker of near Butterfield. The remains were laid to rest Tuesday in the Concord Cemetery. Her health had been bad for sometime, and her death was not expected. She was a good mother, citizen, and neighbor, and respected and confidence of all her acquaintances.
