Mayflower Items: W. F. Easley bought him a new wife from Springdale, Ark., and the boys all welcomed them with a big chivalry and Mr. Easley returned the complement by a treat of wine and candy.

Jas. Hemphill of McDonald Twp., informed us Tuesday that Thomas Drake of Gunter's Hollow got a leg broken last week by a tree falling on it.

Lark Main plead guilty on the 23rd in Squire McCary's court in Washburn to disturbing religious worship and was fined $1. and costs. Arthur Roller's case was continued to the 30th.

Married at Hotel Barry, Oct 23, 1903, by Judge frost, Weaver Wiley and Miss Tyra Gilmer of Schoten.

Miss Cora Fly and nephew Fay Bryan, of Purdy, the Advertiser ways were visiting in Aurora last week.

Dean Mike and Robt. Snook of near Seven Star Springs were tried at Washburn on the 23rd, on a charge of stealing hogs, before Squire McCary and acquitted. Prosecuting Attorney Kemp for he state and J. S. Davis for defendants.

In the breach of promise case of Margaret Giles vs. Eli Davis of near Pioneer, in the Newton County Circuit Court, a judgment of $800. was obtained in favor of plaintiff.

Pioneer News Items: Geo. Wageman and family have visitors this week.

T. D. Northcutt and wife are visiting relatives in North Missouri.

John Reed, of Monett, who was in jail on a charge of forgery was released last week on a $500. bond.

B. M. Heatherly of Crane Creek township was lodged in jail Tuesday on a charge of disturbing the peace of Thos. Garrouite and other of Crane Creek township. He was recently released from jail.

Married at the Recorder's office, Oct 9, by Rev. J. W. Ennes, Geo. W. Anderson of McLean, Illinois, and Miss Rose C. McGregor of Oklahoma City, Okla., Mr. Anderson is _ _ _ter mechanic on the C. O & G. railroad. They left on the evening train.

Monett News: S. B. Elsey is putting in a large planning mill at Walden, Ark.

Pioneer News: T. D. Northcutt and wife are visiting relatives in North Missouri.

Tom Plunkard stabbed Lon Antle at Exeter on the evening of the 9th, with a knife in the left side just above the hip. Plunkard was arrested and lodged in jail. It was thought that the wound would prove serious but at last account, Antle was getting along very well. The trouble grew out of a trifle as they are both boys. At the preliminary Plunkard was held and gave bond.

On the evening of the 8th, inst. Mon, Truhitt and D. Widener got into a row on Dog Hollow at Jas. Nicholas residence when Widener was cut with a knife and Truhitt was struck on the head with a rock. Widener, it seems, tantalized Truhitt about the horse he was riding and other things of like nature, brought on the trouble. The cuts were not serious. No arrest had been made at last account.

Ned Easley and Dock Skelton of Eagle Rock were in the city Saturday. They are two of the oldest and prominent citizens of the county.

John L. and Houston Banks of Ash township were here Saturday. They are respected citizens of this county.

Jenkins News: J. C. Fare has moved into the house vacated by Henry Thomas.

Jenkins News: The folks who have been visiting at Geo. Long's have returned home.

Jenkins News: Mrs. Westfall of Washburn was visiting her sister, Mrs. Williams this week.

White Oak News: W. A. Wright returned Saturday from Pierce City where he has been visiting his son, Rev. Harold B. Wright. Mr. Wright also spent several days in Oklahoma.

Geo. Reed, W. A. Lewis, A. M. Farwell, Dick Whittington, and others of Roaring River township were pleased with the Institute and corn show Monday.

Tilden Marbut moved in his home recently purchased in LeCompte's addition, Thursday.

Roaring River No. 2 News: O. W. Farwell sold a nice bunch of steers the other day.

Roaring River No. 2 News: Little Almond son of Mr. and Mrs. John Easley died Oct 23rd, instant. The bereaved parents have the sympathy of all.

Pasley News: Chas. Hefly and Lillie Dunn were married last week, Rev. Kelley tying the knot.

Probate Judge J. W. Davis, yesterday united in marriage Wm. H. Chandler of Enid, Okla. and Miss Susan P. Ivey of Cassville. The ceremony was perform in Judge Davis' office in the court house - Carthage Democrat.

The case of the State vs. Wm. Weitman, charged with disturbing the peace, was tried before Squire Plattenburg, Tuesday, convicted and fine $10. and he costs. The case was appealed, D. H. Kemp for State and Davis & Steele for defendant.

Deputy Marshall Jas. Andrews of Monett bought M. F. Smith here Thursday and lodge him in jail. He plead guilty to petit larceny and was fined $50.

Ben Avlor who shot and killed Gordon Allen at Prosperity, was held for murder in the second degree. He gave bond.

John Whaler, a well know miner at Aurora, was recently killed in the mines at that place.

John H. Fly and wife sold to J. F. Carmichael property.

Elisha M. Fly and wife sold to Sarah M. Fly property.

Leann News Items: The Waters boys have moved their saw mill to the Ferry ranch, near where W. C. Boster resides.

Leann News Items: Rev. Laney preached to a large crowd at this place Saturday night and Sunday at 11 o'clock.

Harrell News Items: C. W. Campbell will build a new barn.

Cato News Items: Born to J. R. Brooks and lady, a dish washer; mother and bade doing well. J. R. is better but says it can never vote.

Seligman News: Francis Kern is working for C. W. Rubow.

Wm. Tucker of Golden, son of Judge Tucker is very sick with an attach of fever. We hope to hear of his recovery.

Bolen C. Eden, who died last week at his home near Jenkins, was a Mexican and also a veteran of the Civil War. Mexican soldiers are thinning out pretty rapidly, and we know of only two left in this county. They are Judge Walts of Washburn and John Towler of this city.

Mrs. Warden, mother of Mrs. A. Othenin of Monett, is 98 years old. She is probably the oldest person in Barry County. If there are any older we would be glad to hear it.

Deputy Marshall Andrews of Monett lodged Wm. Bowman of that city in jail here Sunday, he having been convicted of disturbing the peace of a neighborhood, to wit. Marshall Hill in the city of Monett, Squire Jewett assess his punishment at $50. and 60 days in jail.

Alva Huse, an old gentleman of Jenkins, had a 15 lb tumor removed by Drs. Gladden and Jones at Monett, Tuesday. The Star said there was some doubt as to his recovery.

Attorney F. P. Sizer of Monett, is the proud sire of a son.

Bert Dummit has received a full appointment as a postal clerk from St. Louis to Monett, in class 2, with a salary of $900. a year.

A young man named Posnick of near Corsicana was kicked by a mule one day last week, and lived only a short tie. The remains were laid to rest in the Bricefield Cemetery.

Mrs. J. N. Such of Monett was here Monday, investigating the chances of securing a pardon for her husband.

Jas. Burxton of Newstead, Newton County, died last week. He left a wife and two children. He was a member of the M. W. A., and carried a $2,000 policy.

Uncle Andy McGlothin's 83rd birthday was celebrated Oct 24, at the home of A. McGlothin in Liberty township. A large number of relatives and old acquaintance met, and with well-filed baskets, came it a delightful day for this good old citizen.

Mrs. Helen Hobbs has returned from Monett, where she visited her daughter, Mrs. Lon Perry.

Means Ray and two little sisters, Bland and Catherine, visited their cousin, Mrs. Will Munday, and family of Galena, Kan., last and this week.

Mrs. Charles Lee returned home Sunday night from Neosho, where she has been visiting her son, Ilus, and family.

Pioneer News: Jas. Whittington has purchased a house and lot in this place.

Pioneer News: Earnest Harper of Pioneer and Miss Etta Jennings of Indian Territory were recently married. We wish them a long a prosperous life.

Henry Price was convicted in the Lawrence County circuit Court last Tuesday of libel and was fined $2000. He will probably appeal.

Ferd Keithley, a Verona boy, who is serving in the U.S. Army in the Fillipino [sic] County, was wounded recently in an engagement.

Constable John Brattin of Exeter arrested Aud Walker of near Diamond, Newton County, last week on a charge of stealing a buggy and harness from Mr. Harter of near Grangeville. He was lodged in the Newton County Jail. He is a son of Mid Walker formerly of near Washburn.

Born to Rudolph Gravett and lady on the 15th, a son. they reside at Gravett, Ark., but are visiting Mrs. Gravett's father Elbert Freeze and family northwest of this city.

Born to Archie Taylor and lady of Mineral Spring, Wednesday, a son.

Prof. John Wallen is reported sick at his home, 2 miles out on the Golden Road.

Rev. J. F. Caskey, formerly of this place, has another heir at his home.

General Birxie [Brixey], Tim Montgomery, Will Henbest and others killed three deer on Rock Creek recently.

John Day and John Forgy, living down Flat Creek, two miles, will soon move to Christian County.

Mrs. W. L. Martin is visiting her daughter, Mrs. C. F. Marbut, and family of Columbia. Mrs. Marbut's children have the measles.

The boys of Cassville continue to smoke cigarettes. The question arises where do they get them?

Will Maden came in Thursday morning from California and will probably remain here this winter. He is looking well.

Will Wheeler, age 13 years, while hauling fodder near David Talbert's residence, fell and broke his left elbow on the 20th.

Elijah Campbell wife and son of the Round Prairie country came in over Sunday to visit Mrs. Campbell's mother, Mrs. Eppha Baker who returned home with them.

Will Maden came in Thursday morning from California and probably remain here this winter. He is looking well.

Rocky Comfort Guides: Wm. Reasor is recovering from injuries received from a runaway tow or three weeks ago.

Rocky Comfort Guides: Geo. Wisely, age 77 years, was given a Thanksgiving surprise by 83 of his neighbors paying him a visit. He enjoyed the occasion.

Washburn News Items: Peter Cables infant child died Monday morning and was buried at the Prairie Cemetery the next day. We extend our sympathy.

Washburn News Items: Last Wednesday while the school boys were playing blackman, Chandler Davis son of Hon. O. D. Davis, caught Grover Journey and by the same time Clyde McDowell, ran into the boys, knocking them all down. Chandler's head struck a rock then cut about half the skin off of [sic] his forehead on the left side exposing his skull. Dr. Northcutt took 7 stitches in the wound.
