Clinton Stockton Dead:


Clinton Stockton, a splendid young man of 18 years, died at the home of his parents near Jenkins, Jan 28, of pneumonia. Those that knew him, speak in the highest terms of him.

John Caldwell Dead:


Judge Henson of Jenkins was in this city Monday and reported that John Caldwell of that place had died that day, age 76 years, leaving his wife and children to mourn the passing. By those that knew him, speak well of him and say that he as a good man and citizen. We learn from Judge Zinn of Leann that John Caldwell was born in Washington County, Ark., Oct 10, 1841. The cause of death was infirmities of old age. Rev. Geo. Cottrell of near Shell Knob conducted the funeral services at Leann, Wednesday. During the Civil War he went with the north and severed in the 1st Ark., Cav.

Mrs. Jas. Shaffer Dead: Mrs. James Shaffer who was operated on at Loveland, Col., recently for a tumor, revived from the operation, but died in a short time, leaving her husband and children. She was a daughter of the late Rev. and Mrs. Caleb Baker, and a sister of Mrs. David Talbert and Joseph Baker of near this city. Mrs. Shaffer's many relative and old schoolmates in this section will be grieved to learn of her passing.

Gone Home:


The Angel of death who is stalking abroad in all lands visited the home of Mrs. Flora Swenk of Richland, New Mexico and removed her mother to the home beyond at the hour of 9:30 a. m. on Saturday January 29. of pneumonia. Caroline Bardorff Cares was born near Milton, Northumberland County, Pa., Nov 2, 1835, and at a time of her translation was 91 years 2 months and 18 days of age. She leaves to mourn her departure one daughter, Mrs. Flora Swenk and two sons A. Bruce Cares of Richland, N. M., and Dr. John H. Cares of Wisconsin, Mr. and Mrs. C. F. Cares moved to Barry County in 1892 and settled on a farm near Hailey, where they resided until September 1914, when they moved to New Mexico. Her husband preceded her about two years to the land beyond. Mrs. Cares has many friends in this section who will be grieved to learn of her death and the sympathies of all the friends who knew the family are with the bereaved one. The mother has been called to come up higher and another hand to beckon us. A Neighbor.

Mrs. Polly Weston died Wednesday ... at her daughter's ... Elizabeth Burnett of Washburn ... aged 82 years ... had been invalid for some time having ... at the home of some of her children near Beaver, Ark., ... ago and broke one of her ... She was the widow of Simon Weston who lived ... neighborhood during life and was a highly respected woman. She was the mother of James Weston residing south of this city in the Pasley neighborhood. Henry and Mrs. ... Burnett of Washburn. Andy and Marion of Okla., Walter residing northwest of this city, John of Beaver, Ark., Wm. of Arkansas, Kelley of Springdale, Ark., and Mrs. Polly Means? of Leslie, Ark. Rev. J. T. Brattin conducted the funeral ... Thursday at the Burnett home in Washburn and the remains were conveyed to a cemetery near Osborne, Ark., and there ...to the tomb.
