111 Year Old Resident of County Dies
Text Sand Springs - Mrs. Sarah Ann (Granny) Sims died at her home here Sunday at the age of 111. Mrs. Sims, born near Little Rock, had made her home for several years here with a daughter, Mrs. Ellis Broam.

Mrs. Sims' father died when she was a baby and her mother died when she was 5. After her mother died, she lived with her half brother and his large family, and she recalled that she had to do the laundry for 14 persons.

She said in later years that she spun wool to make clothing and many nights would sit up late to knit the family's stockings.

She married Jacob LaRue who fought with the Union Army in the Civil War. He died about 1906. She moved to Prue in 1907 and later married William Sims, who died in 1962.
Also surviving Mrs. Sims are another daughter, Mrs. Lillie Mae Young of Sand Springs; two sons, Bill Larue of Rocky Comfort, MO., and Joe LaRue of Shidler; 23 grandchildren, 39 great grandchildren and 38 great great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M. Tuesday in the Mobley Funeral Home. Burial will be in Prairie View Cemetery at Prue.
