Pioneer, 111 Dies at S. S.
Text Mrs. Sarah (Granny) Sims, 111 of 113 Walnut Ave. died Sunday. Mrs. Sims was born 4 years before the Civil War began and moved to Oklahoma in 1907.

She is survived by 22 grandchildren, 39 great grandchildren and 38 great great grandchildren.

She was born in Little Rock, AR on January 11, 1857 and later moved to Prue.

At the time of her death, she was staying with her daughter, Mrs. Ellis Broam of Sand Springs.

She was also noted for being mentally alert and being able and being able to recall her childhood days, which included events of the Civil War and Oklahoma statehood, with clarity.

Services are pending with Mobley Funeral Home of Sand Springs.

Mrs. Sarah (Granny) Sims of Sand Springs, born 4 years before the Civil War began, looks forward to Tuesday. Here, she previews the cake she will cut to celebrate her 105th birthday. She is one of the Sooner's states oldest citizens and can recall her childhood years with clarity. She was born near Little Rock, moving to Prue the year of statehood, 1907. Her birthday will be noted with an open house at a daughter's home, Mrs. E. F. Broam, of Sand Springs. She has another daughter, Mrs. Lille Young, two sons, 20 grandchildren, 53 great grandchildren and 31 great great grandchildren.

Daughter of George Washington Woodard and his second wife Teague Watson - Married Jacob LaRue and William Sims. Jacob LaRue is buried in Crow Pond, Barry Co., MO
