Headline Oliver Linn's Child Drowned
Text MCDOWELL

A child about 1 1-2 years old of Oliver Linn's, wandered away from its home and fell into Flat Creek and was drowned Tuesday evening of last week. Mrs. Linn had left her baby with two other children to go and get some water cress, when the little one tried to follow her and had to go about one-half mile before coming to the creek. The tragedy occurred near John Bennett's farm.

Note from James Carney ([email protected]): The child in question in the scrapbook article relating to the drowning of Oliver Linn's son is William Gaylord Linn, born July 25, 1913 and died Feb 17, 1915. His mother was Nellie Stubblefield Linn, my mothers sister. Gaylord is buried next to his parents in the Stubblefield Cemetery at Jenkins, Mo.
