Headline Lon Beeler Shot
Text Lon Beeler, a young man who lived west of Washburn, died at the Stella hospital Tuesday from gunshot wounds inflicted in the Mooney store at Washburn on Dec 28, at the hands of young Harold Mooney. Beeler and a brother were said to have gone to the store and created a disturbance and that young Mooney shot them, the shot taking effect in the leg of Lon, who was rushed to the Stella hospital. His leg was amputated in hopes of saving his life. The brother was also shot at the same time but his wounds were said not to be serious and that he was getting along very well.

Burial took place in the Elm Springs cemetery in McDonald County Wednesday afternoon.
