Headline Bradford Accidentally Shot
Text Thursday morning while Dean Burris and step-son, John Bradford, age 20 years, son of Cap Bradford of near Eagle Rock, were out hunting, a shotgun in the hands of Burris was discharged and John Bradford received full effect of the shot in the leg about half way between the knee and ankle joints. Burris was only about ten feet from Bradford when the gun was accidentally discharged. The discharge tore a hole through the limb leaving the skin and the attaching muscles on the outside and on the inside of the limb intact. The inner bone of the limb was completely broken while the other bone was also broken and badly shattered. The limb was in such a condition that amputation was necessary. The accident occurred about 8 o'clock Thursday morning. Dr. Kelly was called immediately and a call was also made at once for assistance from Cassville physicians Drs. Rawhauser and Mitchell who went and amputated the limb Thursday afternoon. Bradford is reported doing nicely.

While Drs. Mitchell and Rawhauser were driving to the Dean Burris, place near Eagle Rock, Thursday, to care for John Bradford who was accidentally shot, the buggy became uncoupled throwing the physicians over the dash board but resulted in no injuries.

Research Note:
John Bradford was the son of William Bradford. John's daughter Maudie Bradford married Norman Ball. Cap was her cousin. Cap's boys were Evert, Charles, Earl, and Oliver.
