Text | The case of State vs. John and James Campbell charged with exposing goods, wares and merchandise on Sunday, Judge Gray ruled that the sale of chili, ice cream, ice cream soda, lemonade or anything that might be prepared to eat would not be unlawful. Canned goods cannot be sold. Jas. Campbell was convicted for selling 3 lemons and was fined $1.00. The case was appealed to the Court of Appeals. All the other cases against Campbell Bros. were continued until the higher court passes on the case appealed. The Judge held that cigars, tobaccos and candies, lemons, oranges, and canned goods were merchandise and could not be sold. |
