Text | Oliver Barbee, of Sarcoxie, foiled an attempted hold-up Monday night. Young Barbee who runs a grocery store was returning from one of the berry farms where he had collected some money when two men stepped into the road and catching hold of the bridle of the horse he was riding demanded his money. Barbee drew his revolver and began shooting. One of the robbers returned the fire and shot Barbee in the left arm. Young Barbee then whipped up his horse and escaped. He is a son of Gib Barbee of Joplin. |
