Whittington Cemetery Files

Whittington Cemetery has a repaired sign.

It was replaced just as it was - on the tree and with cemetery misspelled.

Located South on 112 out of Cassville, Mo, East (left) on Highway F in Roaring River State Park then turn on Farm Road 1162 come to a cattle guard follow the fence on your right. Cemetery can't be seen from 1162 but is just a short distance in the woods.

Gina Easley went to Whittington Cemetery in the summer of 1998, most of it is so overgrown you can only find a few stones now and fewer still that can be read. They metal arch over the entrance had been attached to a tree and was up the first time I was there but which has since fallen.

There are several graves in the Whittington Cemetery without even a field stone, just sunken areas. There are a few field stones.

Darla said there was a surprise on one because she could see the word Alzada written on this stone. The Alzada Whittington that married Eli Lockhart is buried in the Washburn Cemetery so I can't figure this one out. I only have one Alzada Whittington in my records.

Darla Ball Marbut - Great Great Granddaughter of Lucinda Whittington Maloney, and her mother have visited this cemetery many times since the '70's.

In the summer of 2001 Darla and her husband cut the brush and cleaned up the cemetery. She took these photos in March 2006.
