On May 8, 1950, in Bentonville, Arkansas, she was united in marriage to Billy Wayne Schell, who preceded her in death on December 9, 1996. Also preceding her in death were her parents; one daughter, Donna Stephens and one son, Gary Schell. Dollie grew up in Southwest Missouri and was a graduate of Purdy High School. She and her husband owned and operated Great Plains Construction, putting in pipe lines throughout the United States. They also owned Schell Trailer Court in Cassville. Gary attended and graduated from Southwest High School in Washburn, Missouri. Gary grew up working side by side with his dad in the family business, Schell Construction Company. He worked on the Alaskan Pipeline in 1970, and then for 7 Valley's Construction, in Cassville. He was a member of the Union Local 627 of Tulsa, Oklahoma. Gary was also a avid supporter of BACA and H.O.G. (Harley Davidson Owners Group.) He was a member of the Eagles Lodge 4155 of Shell Knob, Missouri. Scott, a former representative from Barry county to the General Assembly, died at his home in Washburn, Thursday, June 1st. He was born in Boone county, Indiana, December 3, 1858. he had lived in Barry county for a good many years. For the past eleven years he had been engaged in the hotel business in Washburn. Funeral services were held at 3:30 o'clock, Friday afternoon, June 2. Interment was made in the Washburn Prairie cemetery, under direction of the Horine-Culver Funeral service. He is survived by his widow and three children. The children are: Corn Heimlich of Ft. Scott, Kan., Jay and Major Scott of Washburn. He was the son of John D. Scott and Nancy Siddens. Research Note: His death certificate reads that William H. Shannon was his father and Martha Andrews born KY was his mother. He was age 65 years, 1 month and 27 days old when he died. He was married and a farmer. Martha was his wife's name. Heart disease was the cause of death. S. A. Newman, Cassville, MO, was the informant. - Wheaton Journal, Thursday, July 12 1928 William H. Shannon, a highly respected farmer living west of Washburn in Ash Township died suddenly Monday afternoon about 4:30 while in the field plowing corn. A son in the field with him, and noticing something wrong with his father, went to him. He died before he could be taken to a shade nearby. Mr. Shannon had been suffering with heart trouble for about four years. He was born in Covington, Ky. On May 5, 1863 but had been a resident of this county for a number of years. Research Note: His death certificate reads that he was a retired physician and it names Meadum B. Sparkman, born Warren Co., TN, as his father. Nancy Miller, born TN, was given as his mother's name. - Obit from Effie Erwin Atwell's Scrapbook - C.M. Sparkman passed away at his home in this city Sunday morning about 1 o'clock of ptomaine poisoning after a few days illness at the age of 67 years, 7 months and 5 days. Cyrus Mat Sparkman was born in McDonald county on Feb. 1, 1858 and was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. M.B. Sparkman. In the late 60's he with his parents moved to Barry county where he grew to manhood. He took up the profession of medicine and graduated from a medical college and was for years one of the leading practitioners in Barry county, having had offices first in Washburn, where he practiced for a number of years. From there he went to Monett where he remained some time. In 1892 he came to Cassville and for years he and the late F. N. Reese ran a drug store, Mr. Sparkman practicing his profession. About 18 years ago believing that he had accumulated a competency for old age retired from active practice, but was still called in consultation and gave abundantly of his knowledge of medicine to the less fortunate. He was married three times. His first marriage was to Miss Eliza Pickens of Pea Ridge, Ark., to them was born one child who died in infancy. She also passed away later. His second marriage was to Miss Jennie Steinbrook; to them were born three children, one dying in infancy, the two surviving are Mrs. J.M. Grimes of Perry, Iowa and Frank Sparkman of Cassville. About 19 years ago he was married to Miss Ida Bowman of Seligman, who survives him. He is also survived by one brother, Sol Sparkman of Washburn Prairie, two sisters, Mrs. S.T. Sims of south of Cassville and Mrs. Geo. Hall of Exeter, and three grandsons. - Plot Stone Headstone

Research Note: Wife of Mead B. Sparkman. - Miss Nancy J. Miller was born Feb. 24, 1838 in Warren county, Tenn., and was a daughter of the late Mr. Cyrus and Mrs. Eleanor Miller, where she grew to womanhood and was married to Mead B. Sparkman, Dec. 20, 1851 and came to Barry county in 1852, where they have lived practically ever since. Before leaving Tennessee, one child, Dr. John Sparkman of Springdale Ark., was born, and then Dr. C.M. Sparkman of this city. Mrs. Geo. Hall of Exeter, Solomon Sparkman of near Washburn and Mrs. S.T. Sims of near Cassville, all devoted to their parents. She died Tuesday, March 6, 1915, of infirmities attending old age, aged 77 years, 1 month and 13 days, at the home of her daughter Mrs. S.T. Sims, 5 miles Southeast of this city, surrounded by her relatives and friends. - Information supplied by the "Miller Times" by: Coyne Connell Miller Jr. - 1991 edition: Nancy Jane Miller moved from Warren Co., TN to McDonald Co., MO. in 1857 with Meadom's father, Solomon Sparkman, and his brother-in-law, Pleasant Davidson Miller. They lived in McDonald Co., MO. for several years during the "War Years" but moved east into Barry Co., MO. and reared their children there. Research Note: Son of Leon Marion Stephens and Mary Ruth Prewitt. Preceding him in death were two brothers, James Stephens and an infant brother and a sister-in-law, Donna Stephens. Donnie grew up and received his education in Washburn, Missouri where he graduated from high school. After serving in the United States Army during the Vietnam War he moved to Purdy, Missouri. Throughout his life he displayed a work ethic that was second to none, supporting his family and community business by building pallets for G and R Ind, sewing machine cabinets for Singer Manufacturing in Monett and even partnering with Jack Henry for a time building cabinets for stereo speakers. During that time he never forgot his family roots and spent the last thirty-six years of his working career logging in the communities in this area. He was a member of Mission Baptist Church, long time member of Purdy Lions Club and was on the City Council of Purdy. He spent many fourth of July holidays helping cook chicken at the Purdy Park. - He had been married to Jacqulene Roblyer in 1966. Mother's Obit

Research Note: She was the daughter of Carl and Juanita (Wilson) Baldridge. She attended first grade in Elkhart, Kansas, and Boise City, Oklahoma, and then attended schools in Texas where she graduated from Midlothian High School in 1961. During her school years she admittedly was more interested in playing basketball than academics. Upon graduating high school she attended the University of Texas for one year. Carlene had her first job at the age of thirteen washing dishes in a cafe in Midlothian, Texas. Over the years she worked as a waitress, hospital receptionist, shoe factory operator, nurses' aid, school secretary, checker at a grocery store, and a cafe owner. She married Joe Dale Stephens on July 17, 1964, at the home of Reverend Jean and Wilma Latshaw in Purdy. After marrying Joe, they continued operating the cafe before buying a farm where they milked cows and operated a small sawmill. In the 1980s she and Joe owned and operated a balloon and gift shop. Carlene began her railroad career with Frisco Railroad in Fort Smith, Arkansas, in 1976 and retired in 2006 from the Burlington Northern Sante Fe Railroad in Fort Worth, Texas, after thirty years of service. During her time with the railroad she was transferred to a different places including Tulsa, Oklahoma, in 1986, and Fort Worth, Texas, in 1993, but in spite of all their relocations, she and Joe always considered Missouri their home. She and Joe had moved to Cassville a few years ago. In addition to her parents, Carlene was preceded in death by an infant brother and sister, Paul and Pauline Baldridge; one brother, Edward Baldridge; her step-father, E.F. Mrs. Stephens was a homemaker and also helped in the family's third-generation logging business; they also had a dairy farm operation. Mrs. Stephens, together with her husband, and their son, were baptized in Sugar Creek by Reverend Gene Latshaw. She married Ivan Eugene Stephens on July 8, 1940, in Washburn, Missouri. He predeceased her on December 26, 1977. Survivors include five sons; two daughters; eight grandchildren; two special grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
