Research Note: J. D. Berryhill, husband of Clara (Hancock) Berryhill was listed in the Barry Co., MO, deed records as living in Township 22N, Range 28W, Section 33 of Barry County, MO. Other people who lived in that Section were W. C. and M. E. Werge, C. T. Hickman, A. C. Chadd, J. J. Barnes, J. R. Hogg, I. B. Davis, O. D. Davis, W. L. Black and T. J. Barnes. On Section 33 and down the road from J.D. Berryhill's 60 acres was a mill near by, located on the Westmoreland property. J. D. Berryhill's land was located in this section and was west of the railroad that leaves Washburn and goes south. The railroad was down the hill to the east and toward what is now Hwy 37. Old Washburn Cemetery sits back up on the hill from where the Old Wire Road crossed the tracks and meets with Hwy 37. Clara (Hancock) Berryhill was buried there May 28, 1925 beside an infant that was already buried there and who was named Leland Berryhill and who died April 28, 1901. There are no other Berryhill graves there. Jeff is buried in Parlier, CA, near other Berryhill relatives. Clara was a daughter of Rev. Golman Buford and Mary Minerva (Burris) Hancock. - Another Photo - Another Photo - Another Photo Note

CARGILE, Emeline E. (EUBANK) Mar. 13, 1821
VA
Apr. 10, 1899
Barry Co., MO
Inscription: "Wife of John Cargile" - Research Note: She was the daughter of Thomas Eubank and Nancy Old. John married Emeline E. Eubank, daughter of Thomas Eubank and Nancy Old, maybe Aug. 6, 1840, Barry Co., Missouri. I say "maybe" because there seems to be a lot of controversy on the subject. Some researchers report that Emeline first married William Lane. The first child born to John and Emeline was 6 Oct 1841. I wouldn't think that they would have waited until approximately 5 weeks before the birth of their first born to get married. Of course, not being there, one does not know the circumstances. At any rate, the following record can be found on the Barry Co., genweb site. Take note that John had a brother named Isaac who married Evaline Cunningham. Could be their marriage record. - EARLY BARRY COUNTY MARRIAGES, LANE, EVALINE and CARGILE, J. N. - Aug. 6, 1840, State of Missouri, Barry County. I, Joseph E. Sworn under my hand this 24th day of August 1840, Joseph E. Miller, MGMPC. The above marriage certificate was filed in office and entered upon record the 26th day of August, AD 1840, Saml. M.
