Research Note: His birth certificate says he was born in 1932 and a twin. Son of Matthew Joseph Phelan and Pearl Frances Hunt. - Richard (Rick) Phelan, formerly of (ready?) Brazil Indiana, Chicago Illinois, Ft. Lauderdale Florida, Los Angeles California, Portland Oregon, San Diego California, Miami Florida, Nashville Tennessee, and Branson Missouri passed away Tuesday December 5, 2017 in Springfield Missouri. Rick was 85 years old. For those fortunate enough to have known Rick, they will surely have countless memories that will bring smiles and laughter. Rick had a way of taking any ordinary situation and somehow have those around him laughing endlessly. Whether it was one of his impromptu one-liners, a classic facial expression that was exclusive to him, or some shenanigan that he would so innocently be engaged in, there was always something to laugh about when Rick was around. Anytime Rick moved to a new area, almost immediately he started developing yet another new group of friends. He enjoyed talking to people and taking a sincere interest in them and their situation in life. If they had pets, that was a polarizing draw that he could not resist. To Rick, it did not matter if the pets were dogs, cats, fish or birds, he loved them all. In 1980, he even found a way to smuggle two "had-to-have" roosters on a flight back to Los Angeles having a ready-to-go excuse if he was caught, claiming that the roosters were "very rare birds". He simply loved animals. Rick faced more medical complications and near-death experiences here on earth than most people would face in 150 lifetimes. Even though he had multiple strokes, countless major surgeries, hit by a car and hit by a city bus, Rick would always rebound and continue with his positive outlook on life. He amazed all who knew him and his ability to bounce back. With Rick, Heaven has gained a funny, caring, compassionate, and generous soul. While we will deeply miss him here on earth, we can all take comfort in knowing that he has once again been reunited with all his friends, family, and beloved pets who have also passed. In Heaven, there is sure to have already been a few innocent shenanigans, a lot of laughs, and I would suspect a few missing things that he might have innocently slipped into his pocket or a bag. Research Note: Lorene Frances Pierce, 94, of Pulaskifield, MO passed away suddenly on Wednesday, October 07, 2020 just nine days following the passing of her husband of 67 years. She was the eleventh and final child of Joseph and Frances (Younker) Rosewicz. James Edward Pierce and Lorene Frances Rosewicz were married May 16, 1953 as the first wedding couple in the re-built SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Pulaskifield. The church had suffered a fire the previous year. He earned a B.S. degree in Dairy Science from the University of Missouri and an M.B.A. from Drury University in Springfield, MO. David married Kathleen (Kathy) McCabe on August 2, 1975 in St. Louis, MO. David was President and Chief Executive Officer of Schreiber Foods and a member of Schreiber's Board of Directors. David joined Schreiber in 1974 as Production Supervisor at the company's Carthage, MO., plant. He was named a Production Manager and then the Human Resources Director in 1978; Ingredient Sales Manager and then Director of Marketing in 1985; General Manager of International in 1992; Vice President of Purchasing in 1996; Senior Vice President-Global Trade and Development and a member of the Board of Directors in 1999; President and Chief Operating Officer- Global Trade and Development in 2001; and President and Chief Executive Officer in 2007. David acquired many friends all over the world during his career. David was active in the dairy industry and civic affairs. He was an Executive Board Member for the U.S. Dairy Export Council and Board Member for the National Cheese Institute. On the civic front, he served on the Board of Directors of the YMCA, Curative Rehabilitation and Neighborhood Housing Services. He founded the Threshold of Hope, which is a charitable foundation which feeds, clothes, and shelters the homeless around the world. David is survived by his parents, Earnest and Ruby Pozniak; his loving wife Kathy, his children: Kylene (Justin) Puckett and their children Prestin, Alia and Braden, David Pozniak II, Regan Pozniak; Brothers and Sisters: Michael (Linda) Pozniak, Donna (Richard) Bottorf, Stephen Pozniak, Kevin Pozniak; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncle. Research Note: He was one of ten children born to the late Bart Pozniak and Ella (Belka) Pozniak. Earnest had been a lifetime area resident other than the three years that he served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. Earnest was awarded seven Bronze Stars for his bravery and service. Earnest was a hard worker and had been a Dairy Farmer all his working years. He was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic; a member of the Knights of Columbus; and served on the MFA Board for over fifty-one years. On May 24, 1948, in Purdy, Earnest married Ruby Brattin. They were blessed with over sixty-three years together. Earnest was preceded in death by one son, David Pozniak; one granddaughter, Kori Pozniak; two brothers, Virgil and Narcis L.
