SSW: Julia - Research Note: Original spelling was Marchlewski. His wife was Julia (Jaster) Moloski, deceased. He was a son of John Moloski, born Poland and Julia Jankowsky. Regina Moloski of Pierce City, MO was the informant. Regina was probably his daughter. His mother remarried to Adam Uradzinski. - Notes from findagrave.com: Oldest son of John Marchlewski and Julianna Jankowski Marchlewski, John was likely born in the New Windsor Hotel in Pierce City. His parents were itinerant hotel workers, traveling seasonally between St. Louis and Pierce City. His father died when he was 2 of an intestinal blockage. His mother returned to St. Louis, remarried and returned to Pierce City, working as the head cook at the New Windsor for 30 years. John was raised on his stepfather's Pulaskifield farm, across from the church. He ultimately bought a farm at the "T" west of the church on 2040. He wasn't a great farmer, his legacy was that he bought the very best equipment and got little as a result of his very hard work. In 1907 he married Julia Jaster, one of 11 children of Peter Jaster and Mary Staponski. About 1908 he chose to take over the country store on the northeast corner of 2040 and 97. His mother and stepfather mortgaged their farm to secure the needed inventory. It had been a profitable business under the management of Brice Hudson and, later, Albert Dombroski. There, each of his children were born. He found it difficult to do business with suppliers outside the Polish community of Pulaskifield (still officially called Bricefield at the time), and made the choice to alter his birth name of Marchlewski (Mar-hev-lesh-key) to Moloski. Folklore suggests the name means "carrot". The stigma of being of Polish descent was strong enough that his younger brother changed his name to "Smith" and moved off to Kansas City, returning only to make short visits. John maintained the store until about 1919, when it was sold and the business moved across the street and south of the church, becoming the Perch store. John continued to farm for the rest of his life. Research Note: Her obit does not say she is buried here but this is where her parents and daughter are. - She was the daughter of the late Joe and Rose (Witt) Bartkoski. Berniece graduated from Pierce City High School with the class of 1952. On February 7, 1958 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Pulaskifield, Berniece was united in marriage to Olen Morris. To this union, they were blessed with two children. In 1965, Berniece opened Mode-O-Day, later called Fashion Crossroads, in Monett. She also hosted annual bridal showcases, displaying everything needed for a wedding. She faithfully worked in her business, as well as the office operations of Morris Ditching Service until her health prevented her from this just over a year ago. Mr. Nimsick was born April 8, 1904, in Pierce City, the son of Joseph and Eva (Stipp) Nimsick. He was a retired farmer and a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church near Sarcoxie. John Rososki (Ruskoski) of Bricefield, MO was the informant. John Ruskoski was her son-in-law. She was the wife of Paul David Olszewski and he died in St. Louis, MO. Olszeska is the way her name is spelled on the stone and the date of birth is given as 1857, which is different from what her death certificate information has.
