He was widowed and a farmer and a son of James Madison Pierce and Telitha C. (Merrick) Pierce, both born in OK. J. D. Pierce of Bullington, IA was the informant. - January 13, 1916, Thursday, Cassville Republican - B. F. Pierce Dead: B. F. Pierce who for the past fifteen years has lived east of Mineral Springs on the Cassville and Shell Knob road, died Saturday, January 8, following a brief illness. He was between 75 and 80 years old and until a very short time ago had been in fair health. Mr. Pierce came to this county from North Missouri some fifteen years ago. He had been an attorney at law and practiced that profession for a number of years before moving to this county. He had severed as prosecuting attorney of the county where he lived before moving from the north part of the state. He had always taken an active part in public affairs. While of a ___ eccentric disposition, he was a good citizen and was very much devoted to this home. He was buried Sunday, beside his wife who died about two years ago, in the family cemetery on the home place. He leaves five sons and two daughters. Only one of the sons and one daughter live here. The daughter is Mrs. Orville Riddle of near Mineral Springs. We are informed that Mr. Pierce was Prosecuting attorney of Sullivan County at the time the Taylor brothers were charge with the murder of the Meeks family. He assisted in the prosecution of this famous case at Carrollton where it was taken upon a change of venue. It was only a short time after this strenuous trial until Mr. Pierce's health failed and he came to Ozark county. Pierce died at her home Thursday evening about 8:30 p.m. Her body was laid to rest in the family cemetery near the home Friday evening. We extend our sympathy to the bereaved relatives. - Same Paper #2. Mrs. B. F. Peirce [Pierce] who for a number of years has resided about 8 miles east of town died Thursday evening of last week, age 80 years. Some weeks ago she had a stroke of paralysis and with her advanced age she weakened rapidly. Thursday she fell and her injuries sustained hastened her death within a short time.
