HEAD, Martha Jane (WEILENMAN) Nov. 17, 1923 Oct. 24, 2019 SSW: Heno - Inscription: "Married Apr. 14, 1944" - Research Note: She was the daughter of Beulah and Victor (Lathem) Weilenman. Jane was just shy of her 96th birthday. Now she is reunited with her husband, Henry O. Head, Sr., whom she married on April 14, 1944. For years, Jane and Heno had a vision to reach young people for Christ. So, in 1973 they opened Camp Soaring Hawk, a Christian sports camp for children ages 8-15. Through their efforts, hundreds of kids came to know and love Jesus. The Camp Soaring Hawk family of believers will always remember and be grateful to Jane and Heno for their faithful service to God. Jane attended several colleges—a fact she was quick to joke about—Mississippi State College for Women, Southwestern in Memphis (now Rhodes College), Louisiana State University, and Missouri Southern State College, from which she graduated in 1977 with a degree in art. Jane was a member of Chi Omega sorority, PEO, Daughters of the American Revolution, and First United Methodist Church in Monett, Missouri. Most recently, she was a volunteer for Jesus Was Homeless, a ministry that reaches out to the unemployed and underemployed in Branson, Missouri. She used her art degree well, “doodling” on “happy meal” bags to cheer up children who receive meals from JWH. Jane was preceded in death by her husband, Heno Head, Sr., and her brother, Bill Weilenman. Monett Times
