E." - Research Note: Son of John Shadrack Medlin and Mary Elizabeth Mattingly. - Cassville Republican, Nov. 23, 1893 - Departed, Nov. 17th, 1893, Oscar, son of John and Elizabeth Medlin, aged almost sixteen years. He went as an angel from earth to glory, after a sickness of thirty-six days of severe fever which he bore with patience. When taken sick he was under conviction, and the Lord was mighty to save. He left evident proof that he was a happy boy before he died. During his sickness he sang some beautiful hymns and clapped his hands as he sang, "I am happy on the way." A few days before his death he told a friend, who was his nurse all through his sickness: "I am not afraid to die." A few hours afterwards, looking his pa in the face a moment or two, he turned his eyes heavenward and said, "Bless the Lord!" This is consolation enough that Oscar has gone to rest. Oscar left many warm friends to mourn his loss with the bereaved family. Note

YOUNG, Emily C. (HENRY) Apr. 16, 1841
VA
May 19, 1916
Barry Co., MO
Research Note: Her death certificate names William Henry Young, born in VA as her father which is incorrect. Her father was William Andrew Henry. She was a widow. Her mother was Elizabeth Powers. Her stone reads 1841 as the birth year, but the death certificate reads April 16, 1844. Her age was given as age 72 years, 1 months and 3 days, which would make the 1844 date a correct date. She died from the effects of TB. Frank Young of Monett, MO, gave the information. Death Certificate
