Research Note: Research Note: Researchers say he was the son of Daniel Badger and Hannah Malott. George first married Margaret Meyers and second married her sister, Barbary (Meyers) Oakley on Nov. 23, 1879. Barbary is buried at Washburn Prairie Cemetery next to her first husband William Oakley, died 1902. James' obit: Record-Chronicle, Denton, TX, Monday evening, July 25, 1910 - J. G. Cowan Is Dead - Paralysis Caused Death of a well known Farmer Living Southwest of Denton J. G. Cowan, living four miles southwest of Denton, died at 2 o;clock Sunday afternoon. The cause of death was paralysis with which he had been affected for the past sixteen days. Until Friday only one side was afflicted, but Friday evening, he became totally paralyzed. The remains were buried Monday at the Old Dalton (part of present-day Roselawn Memorial Park) cemetery. Mr. Cowan leaves a wife (Mary B) and several children to mourn his death. - Another Photo Photo

It names his wife as Margaret Holmes, born in Polk Co., MO on Feb. 3, 1841 but was principally reared in AR. They were married on Oct. 3, 1860 in AR. Could be a connection. Photo

SSW: Sarah - Research Note: Son of Edward Daniel Hudson and Mary Ann Wheat. This is from a Goodspeed bio for their son Allen Hudson, born Nov. 16, 1834 in Boone Co., AR: James H. and Sarah (Bellah) Hudson were born in TN on Apr. 3, 1804, and Apr. 6, 1806, respectively. When young they removed to AR in which state they were married, and resided until 1861, when they came to Capp's Creek Twp., where they spent the remainder of their lives, passing away within six days of each other in 1884. They owned a nice farm of 240 acres and were highly respected citizens of the county. For forty years they were active members of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Photo

Legrand on Aug. 11, 1870 in Lawrence Co., MO. Some say James died in 1892 in Newton Co. and is buried at Berwick Cemetery Berwick Newton Co., MO. There is a photo of his stone there with no dates. - Then, there is this news item - September 8, 1917, Saturday, Cassville Democrat - James E. LeGrand is dead at age of 71 years, 5 months and 13 days. His home was in Pierce City. - Pierce City is in Lawrence Co., MO. Photo

Feb. 8, 1874 Inscription: "In his 80th yr. - Gone but not forgotten" - Research Note: Age 80 - William Matthew Roe was born in VA. His son Andrew W. Roe is buried in Mt. Olive Cemetery. William married Margaret Bell. - Todd Co., KY Family History - William M. Roe was born about 1795 in VA, son of Moses and Rebekah (Mantalowe) Roe. With his parents, he moved to Robertson Co., TN (Springfield). In about 1820, he married, in Robertson Co., to Margaret Bell, born about 1794 in TN, died Aug. 1856 in Todd Co., KY. She was the daughter of James and Mary (McMillan) Carmack Bell, and was an Indian of the Cherokee tribe. - Notes of Gertrude Bivin Myers, Toledo, OH - "This is on my mothers side" Grandmother Wolf (Mary M. Roe) said "The farthest back she ever heard was that her Grandfather (Moses Roe, father of William M.) was stolen from Ireland when he was thirteen years old and brought to this country (USA). Inscription: "Age 78 yr, 5 mo., 15 dys" - Research Note: Jane was a daughter of Thomas and Nancy (Hood) Gaw. - Excerpt from a letter written from Billie Thomas Smith to his sister-in-law Jane (Gaw) (Brown) Rutledge Aug. 4, 1878 states "my children has all married but two, Nancy Jane and James Munrow is at home yet. Tildy Gaw is as well as... Tell me about Daniel Brown, if he is living or where he is. ...my daughter Sinthadns man [sic] has went to the MC or MO Iron Co. She will start to move out there in a few dayes." - Tildy Gaw is Billie's sister-in-law Matilda (Rutledge) Gaw, Wiley Gaw's widow, and sister to Jane's 2nd husband John Rutledge. Daniel Brown born Oct. 6, 1825 is Jane's son by her first husband, Daniel Brown who died bef 1834. Family tale is Daniel was involved in a feud and when John Rutledge proposed to Jane, she said she'd marry him if he took her away from Tennessee.
