Allred. - Cassville Democrat, Saturday, Feb. 14, 1920 - Rev. G. W. Qualls of Monett, died of pneumonia, Monday, age 69 years. - Obit probably from the Monett newspaper: Rev. G. W. Qualls was born in Cincinnati, Washington County, Arkansas, May 3, 1851. He died of pneumonia at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Beck at 1015 North Fourth Street, Monett, Monday February 9, 1920 at 6:15 p.m. He was 68 years, 9 months and 6 days old. He was united in marriage with Nancy E. Thomas, August 4, 1870. To this union seven children were born. Three daughters and two sons are living. Two sons preceded him. Rev. Qualls professed faith in Christ about 51 years ago and united with the Methodist Protestant church. He entered the ministry in 1896 and was constantly in the service until about one year ago. He leaves a wife, two sons, and three daughters besides a Host of relatives and friends to mourn his departure. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, February 11, 1920, from the M. E. church on Fourth street in Monett, conducted by Rev. W. F. Goodnight, assisted by Rev. H. E. Marshall. Rev. Qualls was an able minister of the gospel and served two years as president of the Missouri M. P. Conference. He was pastor of the Monett circuit four years. The church has lost a great and good man who in former days was a leader in the great work of the church. He devoted much time to the study of the Bible and the doctrines of the church. He was truly a Methodist Protestant in the strictest sense and was ever ready to defend the cause of Christ and the church he loved so dearly. At the conclusion of the funeral, the Masonic Order took charge of the body and the beautiful and impressive ceremony was only a small token of the high esteem in which he was held by all. Her stone has birth date of Dec. 11, 1842 and the death certificate has Dec. 11, 1840. She was a daughter of John Thomas. Her mother was not named. J. W. (son James William) Qualls of Claremore, OK was the informant. - October 21, 1915, Thursday, Cassville Republican - Gunter News: Grandma Whittington and Mrs. Nancy Qualls visited last week at Dave Gautney's and with their sister, Mrs. Polly Gautney, who Mrs. Qualls had not seen for nearly twenty years. - Married record his Nancy's surname as Smithson. Named as Thomas on the death certificate and in George's obit. She first married Andrew Jackson Smithson Aug. 1861 in Barry Co., MO. They had one child, a daughter, Caledonia Catherine Smithson. Nancy filed for Andrew's Civil War widow's pension on Feb. 18, 1926 from MO. George W. Research Note: According to the log book she has the same grave number as her mother and that she was buried Oct. 21, 2006 and cremated. - Mary Jean (Horine) Quick, 57, of Kenner, Louisiana, died June 27, 2006, at Canon Hospice in Jefferson, Louisiana, following a sudden illness. She was born October 18, 1948, in Cassville, and was a daughter of Hershall and Jo Horine. She was a graduate of Cassville High School and had lived in Kenner, Louisiana, for the past 20 years. She was preceded in death by one brother, Richard Horine. Services were held June 28 in Metairie, Louisiana. A celebration of her life will be held October 21 in Monett.
