Monett,
Barry Co., MO
Apr. 4, 2020
MO
Research Note: Not clear where he is buried but his first wife and parents are buried in IOOF. - Born in Monett, MO, to Amos A. and Eula M. (Henderson) McCormick, he and his two brothers and three sisters grew up on the family farm southeast of Monett. World War II U.S. Army service in the Philippines was followed by over 21 more years in the Army with assignments in Japan, Texas, California, Alaska, Kentucky, Germany, Taiwan and Missouri. He graduated from Monett High School and later in life from Park University (MO). After Army life, he served with the U.S. Department of Labor overseeing job training programs in the Central USA from Kansas City. Twenty-five years after his Army service ended he was recalled to active duty for several months to assist with activation of U.S. forces for the First Gulf War in 1991. In 1995 Monett became "home" again. Lee and his high school sweetheart Wanda Lou May married in December 1946 in Monett. Roger, Richard, Donald and Mary Kay were blessed to be their children and grow up in a loving Christian home. The sudden death of Wanda Lou and their infant son in the womb in 1963 in Taiwan shook them all but not their faith in God's love for them. Under Lee's mournful but steady hand, the remaining family moved to an Army assignment back in Missouri. In 1966 Lee and Geneva Mae Whisman Minor, widow of Dr. Harvey Minor were married. Lee was predeceased by his parents Amos and Eula, his wife of 16 years Wanda Lou and their unborn infant son, brother Albert and sisters Shirley Jane Mourglia, Mamie Lou Lane and Charlotte Ann Hunt, and daughter Mary Kay. Due to the corona virus (COVID-19) pandemic a celebration of life for Lee will be held at a later date when social distancing has ended and family and friends are able to gather.
