LANE, "Joe" Joseph Licurgus Oct. 30, 1871
AR
Apr. 1, 1928 Inscription: "Father" - Research Note: Son of Joseph Licurgus "Curg" Lane and Harriet Leanna Blankenship. His wife was Ella Zena Marrs. Note at findagrave.com: Joseph L. Lane was named after his father, who died a couple of months before the boy's birth in a log cabin in Prairie Grove, Arkansas. The family had moved there just months before, from a farm in Tennessee. Joseph's father was a Civil War veteran with a musket ball lodged in one lung. He grew up with his mother Hattie and his grandmother Rebecca Applewhite Blankenship. Hattie worked as a midwife. She later bore another son, to a man reported to be a Native American, Harvey Moon. Rebecca chased Harvey off shortly before her second grandchild was born, because apparently Harvey was abusive toward Joseph. The two boys, Joseph and William Harvey, grew up, one fair-skinned and the other dark. The family was very poor and Joseph was unable to get much schooling. He had to help on neighboring farms to bring in a little income. He married a local girl, Ella Zena Marrs, and their first child, Ruby, was born in the same cabin he grew up in. Later he and his young family moved to Missouri, where he worked for the railroad. He and his wife added two sons to the family there. - Lane Plot Stone - Another Photo of Plot Stone - Another Photo Census

SSW: Tim - Research Note: Olive was preceded in death by her husband Reverend Tim Larkin. She was the only surviving child of H. I. and Florence Power. With a true servant's heart, she served alongside her husband who pastored Southern Baptist Churches including Roaring River, Seligman, Purdy, Joplin, and Exeter. Among her favorite ministries were teaching and serving in the Women's Missionary Union, which included Girls' Auxiliary, and Vacation Bible Schools. Many have shared stories of her teaching them in Vacation Bible School and remember the songs such as, "Everyday with Jesus." She took joy in being a music director, pianist and soloist where she could share her personal Christian testimony. Those of you who knew Tim and Olive will remember that, many times during his messages, he would stop and ask Olive to come and sing a song related to his message. One of his favorites was "One Day." They had a great time working together to the Glory of God. For many years she was the office manager of the Barry-Lawrence Regional Library System working in both Cassville and Monett locations. Research Note: She was the daughter of Claude Everett and Ethel Virginia (Hensly) Roderick. She was raised in Monett, Mo. and was a 1943 graduate of Monett High School. On July 22, 1944 in La Junta, Colo., she was united in marriage to a young serviceman from Sarcoxie, William Clifford Lewis after a four year courtship, and to this union one son was born. After World War II, they resided in Sarcoxie, Mo. until moving to Carthage, Mo. in 1952, later returning to Sarcoxie in 1977. She and Clifford were active in the early stages of the Sarcoxie Library, which she and Clifford had helped convert from the "Red Front" mercantile store. At one time during their courtship, she thought Clifford had lost interest when he stopped coming to the family home to see her. She found that he had gone to Kansas City to take dance lessons because he could not dance and she loved to dance. At first, their courtship was limited to going to the Monett Methodist Church with her and her family or going to her family home to sit in the living room or front porch with her, her family and other Monett boys. They traveled to Pueblo, Colo. every year to visit close friends who had been in their wedding party.
